Western Union....

I knew I could get your attention with this...
Now tell me, how does sending money with western union work?

I think I found a scammer that's based real near me, and I'm going to make his life hell... I just need a little more details on how western union works EXACTLY (obviously the super insecure thing).

I have a 'UK' address and his name...again...how's it work?

Well, from what I know, a control number, location, and sender's name is needed to pick up money/send money. Is he refusing to send a payment?

Opposite, think nigerian scammers.

I haven't sent him a dime...but I have his email address and name.... which led me to a company run by him that's based about 40 minutes from here.

He's saying he's trapped in the UK with no money.

Essentially...how in the world could he pick up money with just the address and name?

Well, he'd just need coinciding identification (passport, license, etc), and then he could. That's why the name and address are important. Along with the control number you'd give him to pick the money up, of course

Its also easy to use a fake ID when picking up cash and fake names. If somebody is using their real name to scam you they're retarded.

pretty sure it's a real name actually. his name matches his email address completely independently (separate googling), which then matches his business (again completely independently).

So he can't pick up the money without the confirmation number right?
So all he'd really need is his name, and the confirmation number...correct?

i also have his real address he just gave (which again matches everything independently).

What are the odds now that someone stole his email, but was also able to steal EVERYTHING else about the guy? (including his full name, 'business' email, and his real address??)

I also the other question, I guess is ultimately does the address you send the money to matter at all? Or is it just attached to a name and confirmation number?

Don't need an address to pick up cash. But JayKay is right. Those WU clerks aren't exactly the FBI.
