30 Years of Experience: BMW Security Vehicles

BMW's lineup of high security vehicles is larger then ever, which revolve mainly around the X5 and 7 Series cars (and has included the 5 series with the previous generation). BMW has put together this video highlighting what goes into and what happens behind the scenes with these cars.

Here is the official BMW website for BMW Security vehicles: http://www.bmw-security-vehicles.com.../en/index.html

I wonder if they upgrade the braking system to compensate for added weight and force needed to adequately stop.

I like how they show the 180 degree turn(J turn), but in reality that is pretty difficult. They don't tell you you need to have your tires overinflated so that they lose traction when you spin the car around but the ground also has to be wet.

none the less entertaining

This topic sure sells tickets, and has been presented repeatedly on the silver screen.

My uncle has this option on his 7 series. They had this feature available for a good 5-6 years now or maybe longer.

Who's your uncle? And more importantly what does he do? =)

I remember doing that "anti-terrorist" maneauver @ 3:28 during a recent BMW drivers training in Montreal. It was actually alot of fun driving reverse and throwing it in neutral @ 60km/hr and doing a scandanavian flick to bring the car 180 degrees.

Uh, yeah, if you had watched the video you would know they've been offering it for a lot longer than that, they kinda talked about it...

you must be some d-bag in HK to have this... seeing how crime in HK is so low, and gun laws are extremely strict, you must be a real "target" to own a vehicle like this in Hk... but then again, a lot of people just get ridiculous cars for the hell of it in HK

Uhhhh...i said there's must be some in Hong Kong...where did i say I own one?

Sorry...but there are many real estate developers, such as Li Ka-shing, boss of Cheung Kong development company....which is a subject to kidnapping owns a 7-series with security details....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Li_Ka-shing

Calm down, you don't have to be a mafia or d-bag to have need one. Hong Kong crime rate reflects there isn't much kidnapping, robbery, murder compare to other countries. But these things do happen, especially for these rich people.

Correct, gun laws are strict in Hong Kong, but there are still plenty that you can smuggle from Mainland China.

I would recommend the "Young and Dangerous" series of movies for crime rate and gun law references
