i just don't like di caprio in those "tough guy" roles, like in the departed, because he just isn't one. his voice, his demeanor, his personality, i think he should only be cast in romantic comedies and such.

I have yet to see Blood Diamond (it's on my short list - that and Departed) but I disagree on typesetting DiCaprio. The two personas he portrayed in "The Man in the Iron Mask" convinced me that he's capable of going sinister if he chooses. It's in the eyes. Movie generally sucked though. He followed later with Gangs of New York, and in Aviator I was quite impressed with his ability to assume the focused (and ultimately tortured) persona of Howard Hughes. If anything I think he would suck in a romantic comedy - characters simply aren't complex enough.

yeah im not a huge dicaprio fan but i think he can act with the best of them. he got a little overplayed back during the whole titanic thing but i remember way back in "romeo and juliet" when it got the part where his best bud died he was screaming and shaking and his eyes were filled with tears and i seriously thought he was gonna kill someone for real. good acting.

Hopefully this movie will curb the profits of the DeBeers Diamond Cartel.
