Despite the amazing Ferrari sound you get with the Maserati, I don't care much for the stying of the Quattroporte. The Bentley seems like a much larger car, but has better styling and is more powerful.
I'd choose the Bentley.

I'd go with the Bentley.
A couple of my friend's parents have Quattroportes and although the Maserati sounds awesome, I cannot stand the interior. It looks like it crawled out of a Land Rover and/or the 80s. |

My friends father had the Quattroporte and now has the Flying Spur. He hated the Maserati and dumped it in less than a year. He said the transmission was very jerky and he had a lot of trouble with it. He likes the Bentley much better.
I would take the Maserati based on exterior styling alone. I don't care for either of the interiors all that much.

Those of you who claim the Flying Spur is better engineered, I wonder what makes you guys think so. It's based on the VW Group D platform with VW's AWD system and a VW W12 (or 2 VR6s). It's a glorified and turbocharged VW Phaeton as far as I can see.
If by better engineered you guys meant better put together, then I agree. But from an engineering perspective, the Quattroporte is much more interesting. The engine in the Q is mounted behind the front axle with the gearbox mounted in the rear together with the diff, a layout only used on supercars in the past and was unheard of on a sedan. It's a front mid-engined sedan with a weight distribution of 47f/53r. The car as a complete pacakge may be flawed, but the chassis is ahead of time and has huge potential. For my money, I wouldn't take either of them. At least not until the Porsche Panamera and Aston Rapide come out. |

The Bentley gets my vote, I find it has more spacious back seats and the AWD is a big plus for driving it all-year in the snow belt.
