type R build

My good friend Jon is bringing a Type R back from the dead.. No rice just straight OEM..

It's not finished, but his progress is pretty amazing..

I'd thought I share with those who appreciate a pretty legit build thread..

i started in the japanese tuner scene with Integra's (would have killed for an ITR back in those days as would have everyone). Props to that guy on the re-build. That is a SERIOUS rebuild though. I mean the starting point was a bad condition shell basically. Wondering how much the poor guy is gonna pay to almost create an ITR from OEM parts. OUCH $$$.

I'm all for these dedicated builds but wouldn't it have been more cost efficient if he had just bought a ITR straight up? From the looks of it, i think its gonna cost a hell lot more with this rebuild than if he had just picked up one in excellent used condition.

Wow, ITR's are so rare. Love that car, it is the only FWD in EVO's top 100 list.

my build ended up being about the same as buying one new minus a few thousand that doesn't include the mods I used instead of stock parts so I was a little more modded in the end and I was able to pay for the car as I went although I owned it from the beginning... And I learned a lot.

H22 for the motor? Fail... sorry but one of the reasons the ITR was so special was its powerplant and handling demeanor... throwing a heavy ass motor like that in is pointless you could just do that with an LS...

Unfortunately the car will get stolen the first time it's parked in public.

I think he's referring to the rarity of it and how much its sought after by car thieves?

I love the Type R and still do. Too bad most of them are stripped and parted out to put on Civics.
