1 Series Coming to NA in 2008

It has been reported in the German car mag Auto Motor und Sport (a Stuttgart-based mag) that the coupe and convertable versions of the 1 Series will be introduced in 2008 (presumably as 2009 model years) and launched in North America as well.

How manny would consider the coupe (not the hatch) and/or convertible ?

is the coupe good looking i havent seen it?

if its got the power to keep up with the 335 i would want one, if its just as fast in a straight line and smaller/lighter i would prefer it so i could absolutly thrash it around corners until the rear axle flings off

I hope they give NA a coupe and cabrio versio nthat's all I know. We need a smaller/cheaper alternative to the 3-series.

it's been a rumor for some time. no confirmed news have been reported so far, however.

the pic, as you probably figured, is a photoshopped imaginary creation.

I have seen several 1 series around San Diego with Mexico plates on.

I checked one out at the Dealership in TJ...was not very impressed. Its freaking tiny!

The 1 series is overpriced for what you get... even moreso than the 3 series.

Not only does it look ugly (IMO), but its overpriced too??? No thank you...

Just a rumour and never will be produce and the reason is because BMW M1 already exist (it was the first M car ever produced). The top 1 series is the 130i.

The photochop is from another German mag Autobild.

In fact the article that accompanied that pic mentioned that a high performance 1Series is planned - but not yet decided is what to call it. That is why some speculate that the coupe may get the "2" series moniquer - in this way they can call it M2. But the naming bit is pure speculation. However a high performance version of the 1 series coupe is apparently in the works.

I agree that the current hatch sold outside NA is not the best looking BMW. The photoshop renditions of the coupe and cabrio however I like.

Pricing will be key, it will certainly be more than the competition size wise (Golf etc.) and more in line with the B Class from MB (available here in Canada) and the Volvo V30 (also available here). I suspect that, for reference, it may be starting where the Mini (without the options) ends.

If the coupe would look anything like that, I'd buy it for sure! I hope they bring a coupe version here to the States. I don't care if it's a 1 series or 2 series, just bring it.

Not well--the styling is, well, questionable (and the GTI is quite good-looking), it'll be expensive (especially if it's a 135i), and hatchbacks have not been popular for twenty+ years...look at how the Jetta continually outsells the Golf/Rabbit.

Okay word has been out that BMW will bring the 135i to the states,and then the 130 later in 2008. What are the prices going to be and would ya buy one, I think it's going to be a monster little car.
