Audi Quatrro Concept - wow
http://www.motortrend.com/features/a...pt/index.html?
Read all about it there. Specs: Audi TT-RS engine (5 cylinder) upgraded to 407bhp 0-60mph = 3.9sec Weight = 1,300kg (based on RS5 but lighter materials, no rear seats etc.)

Wasn't sure about the style, but once I saw the side profile, I love it! The front is terribly awkward, but I think I could learn to deal with it. I'm sure it would be priced between the RS5 and R8 though, which sort of kills it for me.

Wow...nice. I actually like the front. It's kind of like the new lancer which is a good thing as it looks really really aggressive. But from the side, I don't like the C pillar. It looks kind awkward.
The specs say it has a smaller wheelbase then a RS5. If built, according to the specs, it will be very sporty car And it could be a driver's car if it's available in a manual Again the specs are to

The idea is quite good, but the production version wouldn't be affordable at all, or quite a bit heavier than this concept.
Best regards, south

Very good points. The price is going to go out the roof! In regards to weight, it will increase but I hope it doesnt exceed 1500kg. Time will tell.

Hearing all about lightweight sportscars is good news. This ought to be the best driving Audi to date. Looks good too, but not great.

It all depends where Audi want to position this car. If near the top of their range then I would reckon weight could indeed be close to the suggested weight of 1300kg, after all the drivetrain and engine etc are all developed before hand. But if they make it for RS5 money then I would expect it to weigh in at 1375-1425kgs, after all it's only has the footprint of the TT-RS with same engine.

I see some similarities to the old GT-R concept (the one that led to the current R35), some aspects of the new Ford Focus front, and some similarities to the Ford Mustang in the rear. Still, it seems to work because I love the look of this new Audi. |

VAG CEO Martin Winterkorn talks to Autocar about a production version of the Quatto Concept.
http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsAr...llCars/253035/ "Volkswagen Group CEO Martin Winterkorn has told Autocar he wants the firm "to do" the Quattro, with the possibility of it entering production within three years. He said the cost of putting a new body on an existing platform was between 400-500 million euro and this money would be recouped by either high volume or high prices. If it makes production, Winterkorn expects a combination of both strategies in making and selling the car: around 30-35,000 Quattro units would be made per year with a "solid price" tag." The possibility of having 30-35000 units over the next three years would mean that it wouldn't be as expensive as we originally thought, plus with such numbers could mean that unlike the GTS which didn't make it to North America there is a chance that this could. |
