Ferrari 599 SA Aperta
The 2011 Ferrari 599 SA Aperta is a special model in celebration of Pininfarina's 80th anniversary and is limited to just 80 examples—all of which are already spoken for. The SA nomenclature pays homage to Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina, well known for designing some of Ferrari’s most successful road-going cars. The SA Aperta is a true roadster, allowing 599 owners to bask in the V-12’s signature engine note in a whole new manner. A more raked windshield and two aerodynamic fins behind either passenger and integrated into the two roll-bars (which outline the two passenger seats) are some of the car’s standout features compared to the fixed-roof car. A light soft top is included as a last resort if the weather gets bad. To keep performance on par with the rest of the 599 lineup, the chassis was designed to be as stiff as the closed berlinetta without adding a ton of weight. The car will most likely sit as low as the current GTO, which sits 0.4 inches lower than the 599 GTB equipped with the HGTE package, which sits 0.4 inches lower than a stock 599 GTB. The 661-hp engine beneath its hood and Ferrari's advanced technology will ensure the 599 SA Aperta delivers performance like no other open-top Ferrari vehicle. Ferrari should be releasing more details on the 599 SA Aperta very soon. Last edited by gonzo; 10-06-2010 at 10:35 AM.. Reason: Old news? Ran across on Dupont... |
