Been at watkins glen since friday

I am actually going to be here until friday this week. The lodge I am staying at is about 3-4 miles away from the track as the crow flies. Sunday morning I heard cars at the track but they were not letting anybody in if you were not a driver or on the guest list. When I got back to the lodge sunday night, there was a parking lot full of porsches and a few z06 vettes for a porsche club of america event monday and tues. Talked to a couple of folks and they got me on the guest list for the track. Managed to make it out there for most of the day today. Mid60s temp and a little overcast. Lots of 944Ts and 911s. One or two 911Turbos.

Got to ride in the passenger seat of a instructor who had a z06 for 3 fast - REAL FAST laps. Driver was running about 85/90 in the turns and 145-150 on the back straight.

There was one m3-dct and a n55-135. Got to talk to both of those guys. The 135 driver did not know about current aftermarket options for n55. He does now and will probably be ordering something before long.

Damn them z06s are stout on the track. There was a modded one that was making 528 at the ground with kooks headers, ext and a cam. There is so much heat from the exhaust that the license plate frame was melting... and it got progressively more melted as the sessions went on..

The lodge has a pretty good bar and most of the drivers were there afterward... Better vacation than I expected..

FWIW I didn't know the glen was back open...I thought it was closed indefinitely due to much needed infrastructural repairs?

two delays on US airways and no access to a CF reader on the laptop.

The white Z had a titan V8 motor in it. Said it weighed 3268lbs.

Forgot to mention that there was a (not small) oil puddle below the n54 when I backed it out on sat. :/
