washing your hands
first of all, probably a stupid poll i know - but it's one of the those small stupid things you can argue (well not argue but debate) with people about.
after using the toilet (taking a piss or #2), do you put soap on your hands before you wet them, or wet them first then soap? its one of those little things that irritates me for some reason i personally think its gross if you soap your hands first then wash them but it seems like everyone is different. sometimes i see people do that and then sometimes i see people wet their hands first. what do you do members off-topic lurkers? in b4 smart ass answers |

We talking pump soap or bar soap?
Home, or at a restaurant/club? I soap first because you never know who's poop fingers touched the dispenser.. Why would I "partially" wash my hands before applying soap? Seems like a waste of time for me. Plus when you are the second or third person in line using doing this you roll up to get some soap, but you have to touch a wet dispenser. Then your mind immediatly goes to the place where you are wondering if it's just water, or is it someone else's piss that you just stuck your hands in |

I wet my hands first before I soap it. It just seems natural because soap works with water. I just think that if you soap first and then wash it would just wash most of the soap away first.

and this poll is mostly implied for public restrooms but im guessing your habit would be the same for both home and public. if not, sorry for assuming. (not speaking directly to you feyd) washing my hands in a public bathroom is such a tedious task for me. first thing i do is get the paper towels then im gonna be drying my hands with. then i wash my hands and dry them and shut off the sink (if its not those automatic ones) with the towel i used to dry my hands with. then i open the door with the towel and throw it in the trash (i see a lot of people do this last part) |

this isnt the problem i face. after you have clean hands, how do you exit the bathroom? assuming you are at a rest or bar and you plan to eat...
i try to use the paper towel to grab the knob then throw the towel across the room into the trash. but wait....what if there is automatic air dispensers?! then whattt....how do you exit the bathroom at a public place with the least amount of germ |

Certainly won't ever criticize anyone for wanting to stay as clean as possible, but to me this whole act of "not touching" anything, opening the door with your back like you have just been scrubbed in for surgery, etc. is sometimes taken a bit too far. I've seen people do this at rest areas and then they'll go over to the vending machine and buy a bag of chips and proceed to eat the them with the same fingers they used to make their selections. I grew up on a farm so perhaps I'm just less sensitive to needing to have things 100% clean all the time. (Don't get me wrong, I absolutely prefer cleanliness)... but you won't seem me doing the "not touching" act unless it looks like the bathroom stall from Desparato or Trainspotting. Just keep a travel size of Purel container in your glove box for use after some questionable contact and call it a day. |

2. Turn on sink. 3. Wet hands. 4. Soap. 5. Wash. 6. Dry with paper towels. 7. Turn off sink with paper towels. 8. Get more paper towels (if necessary) with paper towel. 9. Open door with paper towel. |
