Not sure I agree with #2. French people like butter just as much (if not more) than we do.

The caption should really say:

1.) the bigger the better

2.) we as a nation are so rich, arrogant, and irresponsible with our money that we can afford to buy specialized tools for trivial tasks that can easily be accomplished just as well with a more generalized and practical tool (i.e., any pot in the kitchen or the judicious use of a bowl and a microwave).
