What should I get
So...I need to replace my 2009 x5 4.8. I am considering a 2011 X5, but also some others as well. I'd love your input on SUV's OTHER than the X5...
I am considering: Jeep Grand Cherokee (May be too small) Range Rover Sport (Pricey) What else should I be looking at? |

Range Rover is a money pit, more so than a BMW...unless you lease it and get a new one every 3 years...
The X5 did a good job protecting you and your friends and family...id stick with that imo thats obviously the reason you want an SUV, for the wife and kids..which the most important part is getting a safe one, and BMW is one of the safest out there...you and i know from experience

Just look at the X5's competition...Volvo XC90, Audi Q7, Mercedes ML, etc
FWIW the XC90 is my favorite in that price range, but don't have any experience with the ML |

Didn't X5 save you and your loved ones lives?
Unless you are tired of driving one or affording a new one, there shall be no excuse to go with something else. P.S. Owning a Jeep after having and X-5? .....Srsly? |

Isn't a X5 4.8 almost as expensive as a RR Sport?
I would consider a Cayenne S imo... but X5 is still a very good option. Volvo XC90 way too expensive for what you get. Plus, the ride is s*** compare to the X5 or Cayenne. |

I think the Cayenne would be the most expensive lease of the bunch. Might e too small as well.
Yes the X5 saved our lives...but we may want. Chang of pace and return to the x5 after the next redesign. |

some people lease because it may make more sense than owning a depreciating asset....especially if they are small business owners

Definitely Cayenne if you can afford it. Why not go with another x5? Are you the same guy that got hit by the drunk driver? I'd get the same car again if it saved my life the first time around.

MDX is very safe very reliable. Luxury wise a down step from the X5 or RR but something to seriously consider.
If you look at the Q7 then look at the diesel versions. The gasoline version chugs gas, along with the Cayenne. |
