BMW for Ferrari

I am a pretty big BMW fan. However lately I have been bitten by the car bug again and this has had me searching for a new ride. I set a budget for myself of around $60-65K and begin searching. I have been able to find almost 10 ferrari 360's in the U.S for around this amount. Most in really great condition with low miles. The owners selling them for various reasons....whatever. Long story short, their loss is my gain I guess. Seeing as my 135 cost me just shy of $57K, ( Thanks Canada ) I am thinking, why keep the BMW when I can have a something like a 360 for the same money instead?

So I am wondering, service costs aside..Would you trade up if you could?

well ask yourself if you are planning to DD the Modena. the service from a dealer is not cheap. my friend has a F430, and last year he brought it back to Ferrari dealership in bay area for the 15k miles service. out the door cost him almost a brand new honda civic.
as for a weekend vehicle, it is nice to have one, but if you are planning to pile up some miles on them, the maint gets you the most.

The car will never be a DD. The 135 and my Sport truck just sit most of time. It would probably only see 6oooKM a year max.

I wouldn't do it regardless of whether I could afford the maintenance or not. The 360 is dated. Sure it's a Ferrari, but it's performance isn't of the level that it should be for a car that costs so much to maintain. It's barely quicker than a 135i in a straight line...

For that kind of money, I would personally be more interested in something like an '04/'05 996 GT3.

sometimes Ferrari and Lambo buyers don't buy them because of the speed. like the old 308GTB, Countach... it's more of a collectible item and just because they love the model. to the OP, if money is not an issue, i say why not.

Absolutely... but a 360 is just a 360. Maybe it's me, but I don't see anything special about the 360 Modena.

The 360 would be much cheaper than a 355 for maintenance but is still a pretty penny. And +1 on the Challenge Stradale, the greatest Ferrari since the F40

yes that's true, man you're buying the name " ferrari " if you want to go and buy a small piece lost from your interior lets say, it would cost you x000 USD lol.

I'm sorry but I love the 360. With the challenge grill and a Capristo, it's close to perfection

Thanks for the responses guys. Except for the fact that most ignored the original post where I stated SERVICE COSTS ASIDE! I do disagree with the 430 comments. The 458 puts the 430 to shame in terms of the ferrari food chain. The Vantage was another option that I considered, however having driven one while vacationing in the past, I am not a fan of the gauge layout with the hard to read dials and to be honest with you guys, it didn't feel any faster then my 135. Sounds stunning though. I would never tire of that cars exhaust note. Like I said, I am just looking at possible options. I will have to part with one of my other vehicles first though or the GF will kill me. It will most likely be the truck as it has just been sitting for the last 2 years only occasionally being brought outside to have some love lavished upon it.

As for the lambo guys that Stoutnj89 mentioned, those people must be posers who want to appear wealthy. Every person I meet that owns a lambo or Ferrari never even talks about service costs. They just pay the bill. Money and running costs are never discussed. These are the people you know actually have money. Kinda like my friend who just bought an Audi TTS and now constantly complains about the service costs. Obviously he couldn't afford the car in the first place then and he never should have bought it to begin with.... ( I constantly remind him of this by the way )

Like I said u need double the money of the car just to run it right..

Do u have the extra $$$$$
Service is CRAZY $$$
INSURANCE is $$$ ( if you can find someone to insure it...)

Keep ur 1...
Dinan Stage 2
Intake
Exhaust
Coilovers and ur good... In fact better than a 4 or 5 year old 360....

The first Ferrari I have driven was the 360 spider...It was fun...
I like my 1s performance....
