Why do people wear Converse shoes?

I was browsing some shoes online and came across some Converse shoes. I then remembered how most people I know wear Converse (especially among my Asian friends). I mean I don't even know anyone of them that wears Adidas or K-swiss like I do.

At a bachelor party last year when everyone was leaving the house, people got their shoes mixed up because nobody could tell them apart. It's funny to me because you can tell that a house is Asian by the Honda and Toyota cars parked in their driveway. Nowadays you could also tell by all the Converse shoes at the mat.

Anyhow, I don't have a problem with any of it. I'm just curious as to why they are so popular (perhaps more so with Asians?). Thoughts?

idk man, but i despise them as well. they are probably the ugliest shoes out there right now.

I think they were a part of the whole "retro is cool" style. Around here I don't see Asians in particular wearing them, mostly people who think they're "urban" or something and think they have a lot of "swag" or something.... I still hate that word though lol. Only the "cool" kids around here wear them.

I used to hate them too but now I think they're okay as they do go with almost everything. Just wondering why so many people like them though.

I swear it seems like every Asian I know wears them. I remember a few years back I asked them "how come you guys all have the same shoes? whatever happened to diversity?" You go to a gathering and if there are 20 people there are probably 16-18 pairs of Converse...

Nope, never had a pair of Converse before. These are my current kicks. Like I said, most Asian friends I have wear Converse (even the girls!).

No idea. I wore them in high school because I was totally punk rock (sarcasm)

they were uncomfortable as hell. has no cushioning. just a flat sole with canvas wrapped around your foot. they wore down and literally broke apart within months.

Yeah, wore those Adidas during my high school years. Now I mostly wear chucks, the slip on ones. Also got some Vans and Creative Recreation.

K-Swiss is wack though.

I wore adi's a lot two years ago but got bored of them. At one time I has a few pairs but in diff colors.

Now that it's spring time, canvas lacoste ftw.

I think those Converse shoes are really ugly, never got the fad either.

These are what i wear almost daily from Aldo. Very comfortable shoe!

K Swiss lol. Didn't even know they still made them. Used to wear the Adidas but got over them. Right now I've got a pair of Nike Air and a pair of Asic tigers.

Haha. I wanted to stick with K-swiss (yeah yeah it's Kswiss) but the shoes I wanted wasn't released at the time. I like the classic look and those Adidas were the only ones I thought were good for the price.

Of course they still do. I've always liked K-swiss for some reason so I stuck with them for as long as I can remember.
