Absolutely not although I'm sure that's the case most of the time.

I've cheated once a long time ago and I felt like a complete tool and vowed to never do it again.

There are always exceptions to anything, but as an overall consensus I believe it to be true. Because to me cheating isnt an act, its a mindset. If you are the person who would cheat in a heartbeat but put in a location with zero chance, you wouldnt cheat, but put that person in an area where it is easy, they will. Same with a person who would never cheat, you put them in a scenario they could cheat all day, but have the mental strength and morals to turn it down, they of course wouldnt. Just because you havent cheated, doesnt mean you wouldnt if you had the chance, the chance just might have not came yet, and vice versa.

Say you and your wife in the future turn for the worse relationship wise, and the option of cheating arises, most likely you would still do it because you were able to let yourself do it in the past.

Personally, I couldnt let myself go through with it.

some of my friends who's cheated says it's hard not to cheat again once you've cross that line.

I imagine you get better in hiding it or making it feel more normal but I don't think it gets any easier if you have a conscious.
