BMW Supplying 4,000 Vehicles, 400 Bicycles, and Motorcycles for 2012 London Olympics
BIMMERPOST NEWS BMW Supplying 4,000 Vehicles, 400 Bicycles, and Motorcycles for 2012 London Olympics BMW is a Tier One Partner and exclusive automotive sponsor of the 2012 Games. As such, the company will provide various forms of transportation for athletes, technical officials, media, LOCOG operational teams, national Olympic Committees, International Sports Federations, the IOC and marketing partners. We now have a better idea of the forms and amounts of transportation that BMW will be supplying. The company will supply almost 4,000 vehicles and 400 bicycles (the first of which was delivered today), from diesels to electric cars, hybrids to motorcycles, as well as innovative new products like the Pedelec (an electric assisted bicycle). Of those, the majority of the fleet will be made up of highly efficient diesel-powered cars. The BMW 320d EfficientDynamics sedan (F30 3-series version!) will make up at least a third of the fleet and an all-new model, the recently announced BMW 520d EfficientDynamics sedan will also feature significantly in the 2012 London Olympics fleet. Electric BMWs will also play an important role and the fleet will include 200 MINI Es and BMW 1 Series Active Es. PRESS RELEASE

Here an idea why not save the money and focus on improving quality and performance or special loyalty rewards promotion. I have owned 6 BMW of which 3 have been ///M and if it was not for my forum friends I would have been screwed by my local dealer on pricing.
Just a thought.

It will be the all-new F30 BMW 320d Efficient Dynamics that will be used.

Won't the F30 already be released by then; i.e. the Geneva auto show in March 2012.
I thought the Olympics were in the summer (June/July 2012) so it won't be a world premiere at the Olympics. Don't understand why everyone is getting all excited..we will know everything about the car already ??

Aftersale?
Wonder if they'll sell them as new cars or slightly used-certified after the games. Buick used to sell all of the golf cars as "purchase a piece of history...used in the US OPEN."
Although we definitely won't be getting the 320d wagon. too bad. |
