NFL Draft 2012
So I figured we might as well have a draft thread going. See what everybody thinks their team's needs are who they can pick up with their picks.
Feel free to post a mock draft if you'd like as well! I love reading through them, just don't follow college enough to get a feel for everyone coming out. As a Colts fan, obviously I want Luck. Wouldn't be mad with RG3, but I think for what we have in place TODAY Luck could come in and put us back to .500 next season. the possibilty of trading down if they deem Manning can throw again intrigues me, but the way the offseason for us has gone so far, he isn't coming back. JMO.

Dallas needs to totally revamp their defense but I believe that they'll address most of those needs via free agency. In the draft I could see them taking Trent Richardson to complement DeMarco Murray.

St. Louis...well they just about need everything. Everyone says the o-line needs upgrading, I agree but it isn't as bad it seems and by investing so much into it the last few drafts, they need to give Bradford help. I'm still disappointed they let Laurent Robinson. With that said, regardless if the Rams trade the pick or not, they need to get Justin Blackmon and then maybe more secondary help, though it's hard to tell what they have with all the injuries last year.

So Peyton and the Colts are parting ways. Please, please, please don't let him go to the Jets. The two most, ahem...unliked things in football for a New England fan are quarterbacks named Manning and the NY Jets. Two NY teams with Mannings at the helm would be painful.

South Carolina CB Stephon Gilmore could be fit for Lions in Round 1 of NFL Draft
This is making sense to me. A CB who can actually tackle. I can't remember the last time we had one of those. |

Epic trade for my Rams! The only thing that I'm worried about now is Justin Blackmon will be drafted before the Rams pick at 6. The same goes for Matt Kalil. Two players that the Rams could/would've have drafted are likely gone by 6. It's going to be an interesting draft!

Well now it's official...Colts will suck for (at least) a few more years...
At first I was a little betrayed so many players were straight up cut, rather than being shopped or traded for picks, but then I sat back and took in what really happened. Sucks, but whatever. REALLY shapes our draft as a must hit after round 1. Anyone else thinking we're (colts) moving to a 3-4 (FINALLY!)? My questions is who's the best 2nd/late first round NT??

Martin impressed at the combine and never once did I see him give up on a play, his fundamentals are solid, and his wrestling abilities are obvious out there on the field. He's going to be a steal for whoever gets him. |

They'll need to trade up to no later than the sixth spot to draft Richardson. I don't see that happening.

Dallas will take the guard from stanford or help on the defensive side. Any of the players from alabama would be great on defense.

I was very surprised that Dallas made the trade with St. Louis to get Claiborne. Once Jacksonville traded to pass the Rams to get Blackmon, was 100 percent sure the Rams were going to draft Claiborne, one of their needs.

Your team's (and/or other teams as well) draft grade?
I'd give my Colts a B- TE TE in back to back rounds? we've got a good blocking TE in eldridge. Didn't draft D until the 5th...in which we got a nice SEC NT. Then right back to offense. Feels all too familiar from the Polian era. Hope Grigson knows what he's doing... Best draft this year IMO was Green Bay. pretty much filled every spot they needed a player or more depth on D. A+ Worst draft goes to Washington...for the sole reason draft RGIII and then Cousins. I'm R E A L L Y intrigued to find out what the FAK they were thinking!

Rams a B.
I wish they they landed one of the top WR's for Bradford but they decided to maximize on picks to fill the needs. A lot of high risk, high reward players but I'm excited to see Janoris Jenkins. Was supposed to be a first round selection but off/field issues downgraded him. If he pans out with Cortland Finnegan at CB, the Rams will finally have a decent CB tandem to field on Sundays with that very solid front 7. September can't come soon enough... |

Hard to grade the Lions....
First round, A for sure. Second round C- Third round C- Remainder of the rounds B+ Overall, I guess I'd say B-. I guess they let Millen come back and make our second round pick.... I don't think Broyles was a good pick up at that time, given the fact that Konz was still on the board (and Peterman is a fat joke). If the Lions had taken Konz after Reiff, that would solve a lot of our angst about the performance and age of our line. Instead we took an underwhelming, injury-prone (and still recovering) receiver on a team where we don't need one.... And then the third round pick.... Bentley.... Because all we needed was another undersized and unproven cornerback, right? That pick made zero sense to me. |
