Tune only 5.5L TT AMG dyno

Weistec just released their software for the AMG 5.5L TT (M157).

Stock E63, 91 octane - 618whp, 667wtq

That is just ridiculous gains with a tune only, the M157 is going to be a modders dream. Imagine full bolt-ons and upgraded turbos.

Won't the new M5 be able to beat this pretty handily?

The figures given are for wheel hp.

E63 as standard: 518bhp (469 whp). These mods are giving 618whp so imagine what the engine is really putting out. I'd guess around 650bhp. In a straight line will be quicker than the standard M5. M5 is around 30kg heavier too.

Handily...no. Maybe not at all. Remember that cars like the CLS63 and E63 have over a full liter more displacement, 5.5L vs 4.4L. Also depends how hard BMW is working the stock turbos, how much boost.

This is why I think the CLS63 makes the perfect DD.

With all that HP driving just two wheels, you really won't need much more. You'll spin all of 1st, 2nd, and possibly 3rd gear. What good does it do to spin tires that easily at freeway speeds? If they were to make an E63 with the 4 Matic, it would be awesome to lay down that kind of HP.

^ That's why I'm interested to see what the new RS6 will provide. The current model has something like 580bhp (unofficially at least 600bhp) and this new model is supposed to be a lot lighter with similar output. Should make things interesting since the old one was way too heavy. I think 2100kg if I remember correctly.

So how much power can the engine safely handle?

At ~650hp thats about 118hp/l so I don't think its gonna be anything to worry about. The same engine is in the S63 AMG and it is officially about 570hp.

HP wars are again beginning. Can't wait till the new gt500 is released. 650hp STOCK, possibly 750 with just restrictions removed. Then you get to the pulley and real modding. WOAH.

S63 engine is only rated at 536hp, 563hp with performance pack, but thats the same with E63 with performance pack. Probably only makes turbo boost little bit higher.

The 618whp figures puts the car at around 730hp at crank if counting ~15% drivetrain loss.

While the stock tune is making 100-150 RWHP more at redline......thats what I'm comparing it to. It just means you need to shift at 5k or you're going to start loosing a lot of power.
