23 EDIT 45 Bomb threats over the past few weeks at my University
Not sure if many of you have heard about the recent rash of bomb threats at the University of Pittsburgh as it hasn't made much national news.
The threats started early this semester and recently there have been multiple daily. The first ones were found in bathroom stalls, then notes around campus, and now a few have been emailed. Some things that are scaring the campus community: There was recently a shooting at a University affiliated hospital on campus. Many don't know this, but prior to the Virginia Tech shooting, there were multiple bomb threats called in. The VT anniversary is quickly approaching, as is the Columbine shooting anniversary. Discuss? http://www.philly.com/philly/news/20...tt_campus.html Last edited by TwinTurboXI; 04-09-2012 at 02:40 PM.. |

As a student at VT, I know how scary things like this can be. I fortunately was not a student here in 2007, but I was here for the shooting this past year. I'm sure after recent events the security on your campus has been heightened drastically, especially since VT was criticized for its lack of emergency readiness. The best thing I would say to do is to remain in groups, or large buildings with many exits as much as possible. On 4/16 or the Columbine anniversary, I would recommend only leaving your building when absolutely necessary. I sincerely hope that everything will be okay.

I believe there were 5 more on Easter Sunday.
As of 2:40 P.M., we have had over ten buildings on campus evacuated due to bomb threats. 4 of which were dorms at 3:00 A.M. |

Evacuations based on the threat is, itself, risky..esp if it's a dorm. Someone could just put out a bomb threat, cause an evacuation, and all those kids going outside the building & standing there are like sitting ducks for a car bomb, shooting, or anything else sick ppl can think up.
