Question about donating blood? Think my nerve was struck? Any medical professionals?
Hey guys
So today I went to donate blood at my high school through Carter. When I was stuck with a needle there was an immediate pain that shot down to my wrist/radial area. I was in shock because it felt really weird. I told her that my wrist hurt even after a few seconds of the needle being in and she took it out and the majority of the "pain" immediately went away so she re pricked me. Now that its all done my wrist still hurts a little bit, but thimk I still have sensation and full functionality. Is this something I should disregard, shrug off? Typing from my phone

She probably hit a nerve. I fainted when I was donating blood in high school. I didn't know you weren't suppose to exercise before donating. I had just gotten done with varsity soccer and saw they were having donations. I went in and when they took away my blood it was really flowing out of me. I finished before a girl that was 1/2 way through when I got to the seat. When I got up everything went in slow motion and started to spin!

It's not a big deal, hitting a nerve is painful but nothing else.

+ possible paralysis and loss of sensation, yea totally harmless. There's a reason certain types of injection methods/locations aren't used anymore.

She could have hit an artery...If the blood was bright than it was an artery hit...blood from the veins are a dark color...
Only reason I say that is when u hit an artery it hurts and the pain travels down whatever limb the needle is stuck into. |

Great, come into the off topic area of a car forum and start asking for medical advice. How can this possibly go wrong?
