i'm really liking their new focus ST as well. Recaro seats, 265 hp 270 torque in a hatch.

Looks like a serious competitor to the typical "hot-hatch" cars. Once I decide I need a DD I will certainly consider it. Hoping the recaro interior isn't only that stupid two-tone, that would really frustrate me. But cheaper than a similarly equipped GTI with more stuff...sounds like a great deal to me though I think the GTI looks slightly better/more subtle.

option packages on the Focus ST are pricey!

Really? It's like $4.5k for an "all bells and whistles" options package, which seems to make the car about $1k more expensive than a loaded Titanium edition with the handling package. That seems like a damn good deal to me.

Anyway, I like the functional enhancements on the new GT. It's got a little more power and the track apps, as well as the Track Pack.... But once you load one up with goodies and the Track Pack, you're getting somewhat close to base BOSS territory.... Which I guess is OK if you want a decent sound system and nav, but still.... What I really don't like are the exterior visual changes. The bigger nose and painted side skirts give it added visual bulk. I'm sure the tail lights will grow on me, but as of right now, I prefer the '10-'12 lights.

But yeah the GT is still an incredible bang for your buck. BTW, GHIG looks much better in person.

Ford is in the process of remodeling the Mustang and going away from the current look all together. It won't look anything like a mustang which I think is a great decision. I would buy one if it didn't look like a mustang based on the performance.

The countdown feature looks great so you can increase your response time. The Mustang has made changes each year for the past 3 years. I would hate to be a mustang owner and have the older model

Yeah.
but at $29k, you're in WRX/STi/Evo territory.

Ok I think you're looking at optioned vs base when making that assumption. You're comparing the loaded ST with the base STi (difference of $5k) when the base versus base comparison would be $10k difference. Same for the Evo. So, those comparisons aren't extremely relevant.

But yeah the ST is about the same as what a WRX would set you back. It's also about the same price as a GTI. But obviously if blistering acceleration and AWD made automatic winners of the Subie, then why would so many people still enjoy the GTI? Good FWD applications can still be somewhat decent.

I respect the performance and bang for the buck.

But that car in lime green is embarrassing.

What is really odd about that color is it actually looks better on the BOSS, even though you'd think a car with obnoxious stripes would by default look more obnoxious than a car without them.... But without the stripes to break up that big chunk of color.... It just doesn't look right on the GT. And the painted cladding doesn't help that.

I prefer the pre-facelift's less chunky look, plus the old HIDs with the matte silver housings look better than these cluttered LED lamps. I love the taillights to death, but it's about the only visual change I'd want.

Really diggin' those track apps.

so ford sells them a turbocharged vacuum cleaner with FWD

Also the ST has 247hp and 250 lb ft of torque, not 265hp & 270 lb ft as previously stated.

Yeah saw a SBY '13 BOSS on the road just a couple days ago, the tail lights seem to work alright there visually. But the Shelby nose for some reason only works on the Shelby. Looks gagalicious on the other models for some reason. And the painted cladding.... Well a lot of people asked for it, and now that they see it.... They see why Ford didn't do that originally. This is not a case of the E36; it does NOT look better with painted cladding. Especially in a color like GHIG.

But if you guys haven't seen the new-for-'13 color Deep Impact Blue, check it out. Best blue I've seen on a car since Estoril went the way of the dodo.
