Can A Prius Beat An E90?
Alrite those who were about to call me an idiot, calm down. I made that title to show how absurd some Prius owners seem to be.
Prius Owns Anything Basically it is Prius owners stating how they beat cars. Granted, many of the cars suck but if you keep reading it seems like they think they are actually really quick cars. One guy says he would have beaten an M3 if the limiter wasnt at 107. Now you 335i owners especially, but anyone who falls under this category needs to look at this thread closely. As you can see some of these Prius owners are absolutely retarded and overhype their vehicle. As do many 3 series owners. I know a BMW is not a Prius but the same is true for us.

"prisus kept up with the bike in first gear"
this is such a joke, and isnt the point of owning a prius NOT to be heavy footed and to save gas/ limit polution just retarded |

Actually with less or any need for a gas stop, a prius can theoretically beat an e90 over a long distance , so to answer your question, yes a Prius can beat an E90.

seriously, unless there are no gas stations en route, i'm pretty sure I could get a big enough lead to refuel and keep going. and did anyone see how someone beat the nsx... the low end acura that looked shaky at high speeds?

I wouldn't see how they would be laughing at this specific thread. Maybe some of the others where 335i owners think they can beat a Ferrari.

Actually, I'd take a diesel car anytime over a hybrid, something along the lines of a almost comparably priced base E320CDi

I Hate Hybrids
I hate hybrids and the attitude of many of its drivers....so much so that I have a Tony Hawk helmet cam in my M6 so in my next encounter with a Prius on a deserted road, you guys will see what I intend to do.

What's even more sad is the 'green-ness' of the Prius or any other hybrids is also over-hyped too. Their actual fuel consumption is no where near their stated value. (Rating issue to be addressed next year)
The manufacturing energy requirement is also much higher. It is once said that the life of a Prius compared to a Hummer, the Prius actually consumes more energy from earth than the Hummer. So really it's just a shift in pollution exhaust. The manufacturing and disposal of the batteries in the hybrids is also a very major environmental issue. But maybe with more R&D, hybrids may improve further. |

well once the general american public get over the hang ups on diesel, they'd find hybrids to be an overcomplex and unnecessary solution. Modern diesel cars are the way to go I believe.

One really cool thing about electric cars is that they produce insane amounts of torque instantly! Just check out: This
I can only imagine what 1500+ ft.lbs of torque feels like coming on instantly. As far as the Prius concerned, they need to share whatever it is they're smoking. |

oh fully electric vehicles is an awesome technology, but I always thought hybrids were a half-ass compromise, you get more with diesel plain and simple.

really, i hadn't heard that...great news. Their 2.2 turbo diesel is supposed to be good. I know the turbodiesel mill is coming to an X5 soon. A 335d would be awesome I'm tired of europeans having all the fun

I always seem to be stuck behind them at traffic lights having a "slowceleration" match with the car next to them, where the left lane and right lane are going the same speed and nobody can get around them. Usually I am muttering to myself "the right pedal is the gas, Hippie" in hopes that they will go a little faster so I can get around that ugly hippie car.

That's it! From now on I'm gonna show those grannies and tree huggers what a BWM can do at every stop light - whether they like it (or know it)or not. Forget the STI's, Evo's ,etc. My sights are now set on the Toyota Prius!
