Wondering how many people here are into classic American cars also. And if anyone owns one along with their BMW. I've got the idea that it's a pretty closed community for BMW, so I was thinking im alone in wanting a BMW and a classic like a 70s Camaro as a second car.

I'm actually looking into trading my 135i for a AC Cobra 427FE. If it doesn't go through I'll post it up for trade to consider a 67 thru 71 Firebird/Trans Am or I guess just any sweet Hot Rod that catches my eye.

Nice! I had a 91 and 94 formula. So im definitely into firebirds. As I've gotten older, I keep thinking about getting one of the classics just as something on the weekend and stuff. I thought about using my 335i as a weekend car after its paid off but it doesn't really have that flare that im looking for. Plus the sound those big v8s makes me die.
What year is the 135i your trying to trade?

I love classic cars, especially classic American cars. One of my all-time favorite cars is the 63-67 Corvettes. I drool everytime I see one. Visually, to me, its perfection on wheels. I will have one some day. I also love the Cadillacs, and Muscle Cars.

I've always been into pre-war classics and late 60's american cars. '71 challenger, '70 cuda, 1969 Boss 302 and '69 camaro are my favorites. Quality wise, and the character they bring with them, I think there's nothing like them. I don't think too many here would be into much of the old muscle or classics or old classics. JB4's and Duesenbergs don't really go hand and hand

The only other person I know who shares a passion for older cars is my relativewho is a pretty well-known pre-war and post-war european car collector. He has a pretty amazing collection and its always nice to see the cars which brought the innovations we see in today's cars. Here's a few photos of what he has if any of you are interested. The cars shown are a 1936 alfa romeo, 1967 275 GTB, 1963 300SL roadster with aluminum block, and a 1929 Bentley.

I also have to add that those early 60's 300SL roadsters are one of the most beautiful cars ever. Give me a red one with tan interior or silver with red. drool

^^ Aside from looking VERY good, those 300SL's were great innovations for their time. Fuel injection, aluminum blocks, and a top speed of 150+.......the car set the standard for many different things we see in cars today.

Your right about the JB'4 and duesenburgs not going hand and hand. I feel so displaced honestly since I bought a BMW. I've always been an american car guy, but they can't seem to make a nice sporty 4 door for everyday use. The germans are solid on these cars though. It's bad too, when I bought this 335i, I was at the GM dealership looking at the buick regal gs and saw the bmw on the used lot for a good amount less. I had no idea there was even like a difference between 328 and 335 when I bought it. I just knew the blue book was 33k and they were selling around 30k and I got it 27k. That's how much I know about bmw's lol.

I have the exact sentiments about the V8 and weekend car. My 1 is a 2009 only 26K in miles. I brought with me from Germany where I could open it up and drive it proper, but now where I'm at it just basically sits. I was stationed overseas for 15yrs and the hot rod itch couldn't be scratched so I'm still on the hunt.
I'm struggling between getting a turn key or project. I'm currently building up my toolbox/garage as well.
Let me know if you got something to trade

First car was a 79 El Camino. 305 v8 bored 30 over, perfect body and paint with 54k original miles. Loved that car. Love all classic cars, especially Chevy and Pontiac.

Would love to get a nice restored GTO or Chevelle or something along those lines but not until I have a house with a big enough garage for all my toys.

Not really a classic, but some consider it a modern classic. I've got a 95 Impala SS with low miles that is a weekend cruising toy of mine.

Nothing will ever replace the sound and feel of V8 power for me

Sucks about the cobra. A pantera is a pretty cool idea. Pretty exotic.
I think I would want to look for something in between with the work i'd have to put into the car. I want something that's in decent condition where like I'd be fine with restoring the interior or some parts on the engine, but I'm not looking for a full rebuild type thing. I'm still a couple years off though before I'd have the money saved up. I want to have that as a goal though.

Chevelle's are amazing. The 95 impala is cool too. I still wish I kept my 94 formula. It was red and convertible. It was my high school car and part of college car. But i ended up needing something more reliable for drives back home on the weekends and stuff.

Before I bought the 135 last year, I spent 6 months looking around for a suitable sized and secure garage to rent so as to buy/import from the USA an nice 50's/60's classic car, but such garages are very hard to find and cost a fortune in London where space is at a premium.

So, my money went on the DD and I bought the 135.

I'm still hopefull that one one day, I'll have somewhere to put something like a '56 Chrysler Hemi hardtop, '57 Old J2, '61 Corvette, '66 Stingray, '63 Plymouth Sport Fury Max Wedge, '64 Galaxie 427.......etc.,etc

Of course I'm still partial to classic's from my own side of the pond, such as Jaguar MkII, Ford Escort RS1600, Jensen Interceptor, Lancia Stratos, almost any 1960's Ferrari (even though they are largely all rubbish)

The lottery win buy would be a Cobra 427 and a Roy Brizio built '32 Ford 3w Coupe with a Hilborn injected SBC

1965 Lincoln. Aside from muscle cars, I loooove the old school convertibles that were the length of an 18 wheeler, preferably with fins.

Excuse the rims, this was the only pic I could find of the Black/Red color way that I would be a requirement for me lol.

I was never really into chevelle's until a friend of mine got a red 1969 Chevelle and dropped in a 383, T56, and a 250 shot. Completely restored to stock on the outside and inside......other than those mods, it was definitely a nice resto-mod. that car gave me a new found liking for those chevelles. Funny thing is that his DD is an e90 335i.

haha Bolink, you like those huge boat cars. They are just to big for me. I prefer the sportier coupes. A 1960 Fairlane 500 would be kinda cool though.

Have you ever driven one? They are AWESOME. My 79 Elky was not quite that big, but big by todays standards. The thing was like riding in an airplane. Didn't feel a thing from the road. Definitely not made for going fast though. I maxed that poor El Camino out one time. Speedo only went to 80. It was scary to say the least, just floating everywhere. Man I was a dumbass kid.

But those cars cannot contain their swagger. Id love to be able to participate in those antique car drive ins, so much fun.

Oh and much love for the FairLane...just not my style I guess.
