I just had a pretty long test drive on the TL the other day as we also are considering one to replace one of our vehicles. I think it is a pretty good choice for the money you spend. The style, people either hate it or like it so not much I can say about. The SH-AWD tech pack was the one I drove and i certainly enjoyed it. Here are a few goods an bads IMO for the TL
(+) Good acceleration. Great features, many things to play with. Nice and easy to use navi system. Supportive seats. Handles surprisingly well, way better than I'd expect for its size and weight. Like that AWD system. Works really good when it needs to. High quality interior material for its price tag (-) Cheap and ugly looking smart key. Awkward shaped trunk. No folding back seats to maximize the cargo space. Definitely needs better tires. Somewhat slow automatic gearbox (not much to expect, it's an auto tranny after all). Plasticky-cheap feel pedal shifters. To us, the biggest problem is the trunk layout and the back seats not being able to gold down. The search continues on but the TL remains one strong contender for sure.

I've got an '08 TL-S and got to try out the 4G TL as a loaner while my car was in the shop.
It's not a bad car. All in all you can actually drive it pretty fast (though it has the same lifeless electric steering that everyone complains about on every other car) and it's going to be absurdly reliable. With that said it's still ugly as sin, and I'd consider the TSX or RDX before the current TL. But for a quiet, comfortable, and extremely well built car you get a LOT for your money. BMW charges you $20k for the stuff the Acura builds into the TL's standard.
