That had nothing to do with Sandy...
I had no power for 7 days and 3 hours. It fucking sucked but I fully recognize that I was one of the comparatively lucky ones with no damage. My power ended up being restored by a crew from Louisianna. A crew from Hydro Quebec came the next day to check their work. I believe Long Island is taking SO much longer because they are not allowing non-union crews to help them.

Does he work for Kinco? That's who fixed me up. Could not have been nicer guys. They were working 16 hour days and came back after dinner to work a 17th to get me up and running.

I myself didn't have power from midday Monday till Thursday night. I got cable and internet back on Friday night. I live off an inlet from the ocean that you can see from the GSP but flooding was minimal because of the lack of rain. On Wednesday, 50% of my town didn't have power because some of it has massive flood damage from being near the water and the other people I can't explain. National Guard is also guarding the area's with water damage from the ocean all along the Jersey coast. Some towns have had curfews due to massive looting. |

It took over some news channels
No but seriously, I'm really happy my family on the east coast was able to get away before anything could've happened to them. They were scared for their house, but when they got back nothing was really damaged so it was all good Damn nature..

Just for comparison, Connecticut had 850,000 people without power after the storm. 8 days later there were less than 100 without. LIPA (Long Island) had around 900,000 without after the storm and now 11 days later, there are still 163,000 households without power. The only reason they are still without is because they are refusing help from non-union workers. If I lived out there I would be outraged.

it affected all of us: all sandy states went blue for the election. would obama have won anyway? don't know, but it definitely helped him since he was in a position to help. and it exposed romney as a fake (he could have cut a $50m check, and you know he would have advertised it)
