Audi Bravery Ad Campaign on Superbowl Sunday

Lol...talking about confirming your market segment.

S4 owners have to be old enough to toss their 18 year old son the keys...

Yawn.

Given the average BMW owner age of roughly 50, the kids would be out of college.

Was an s6 not s4 and it's a marketing tactic, create an ideal image in a child's mind. When they grow up they'll want it... There's more to it than that but that's the gist of what they were driving at.

...BMW average age is much lower than 50... And 55 is about the age your youngest kids would be seniors or in college

Was pitiful commercial. Audi should have take that $3M of ad time and put it into designing a better car.

A BMW commercial aimed at their market segment would have been what... a dad buying his daughter a 3 series for her sweet 16?

The BMW average owner age is 49. Have a child at 25 and by the time the average owner buys his car, the child is out of college and back living at home.

Regardless, confirmed Audis are for old farts...BMW ads focus on the car and thrill of driving, their key differentiator-->that appeals to younger people in general.

BMW owners are just as old as Audi owners, but they have less money and are not as well educated.

BMW

Average Age of Owner: 49
Median Income: $169,289
4-Year College Degree: 29.07%

Audi

Average Age of Owner: 49
Median Income: $183,601
4-Year College Degree: 31.66%

I'm not sure those are statistically different. What's the p-value?

There are no two brands on the road more comparable and similar than Audi and BMW. No logical fan of one can be so blind as to hate the other, period. Even if the style of one pleases your eye more than the other, anyone being honest with themselves can at least respect the other product.

Key word being logical..

I didn't say I hate Audi.

I hated the ad.

I question not getting the S4 every time my Nav squeaks on a bump.

Set of hilarious stereotypes in the comments on this summary of the income and education vs brand survey:

http://www.mymoneyblog.com/driving-a...education.html

also, the blog notes income may well be household, not individual income, and that income may only apply to people that bought rather than leased the cars.

Nice link...best quote:

A person who leases a Toyota SUV every three years spends more money in the long run than a person who buy a Lexus and drives it for 10 years. Another example… let’s say an Acura costs $15k more than the Honda counterpart. Over 10 years, that’s a premium of $1,500 per year or $125 per month (plus slightly higher maintenance and insurance costs). An iPhone family plan costs more than that.

Wasn't directing that at you, or anyone in particular.. Just the overall "BMW rules, Audi sucks" type of responses to posts like this... Always seems crazy to me how anyone can like or love BMW and not at least appreciate Audi, if not like or love their cars as well.

Yeah, this is my answer to those that say leasing means you can't afford to buy. It's quite the opposite.

Sorry for using my experiences instead of the search button first

-> I mistakenly used my parents neighborhood as a reference point and all of them are like 53-56 with their youngest kids graduating this year from HS (weird but a number of families all moved to my area with the same family dynamics and ages). I also took the fact that most of the old guys drive Audis and most of their kids (self made) drive bimmers into account and created my own opinion of the stats, instead of getting the real stats.

Thank you for pointing out my lack of thought, I hate being the ignorant one!

Here's an interesting take on why they decided to do the Live Ad from Mashable:

No more, that was before. Now Audi and Lexus are taking over BMW's market, while BMW is getting on Mercedes' market.

the F30 ad's I've seen show an EBII 328i M Performance driving around and a Red 328i going around curves and chicanes...maybe My market is different from others, but that's what CT gets to see...
that's highlighting the thrill of driving.
