Why do we fart when we pee?

So Im standing at the urinal and a guy comes in and stands right next to me(doesnt use the man code by moving one over) and lets out this huge ass-roar. I myself had let one go before he came in.

I didnt have to fart before this and yet it seems to always happen. Anyone else?

Happens to me in the mornings.... not so much during the day.

I feel ya on the man-code violators. I used to have one co-worker who was an insidious offender; not only would he stand next to me, but he'd strike up a conversation, too. Sorry -- I don't wanna chat with another dude while I'm holding my junk. Save it for the sinks.

Well yeah, I fart on all occasions as well. Im just saying, does the bladder being released have something to do with allowing air to escape from the sphincter?

I dont think its age dependant. Apparently you havent experienced this phenomenon yet. Just wait till the day it creeps up on you.

Just turned 41.

I think it's actually the release of the tension in the bladder, you can't control the bladder as independently of the sphinchter as you might want, you typically release the entire pelvic floor, at least to some degree.

its not age dependant and yet in the future it will "creep up on me" like not being able to sleep the full night without getting up to use the bathroom, not being able to get up from a chair without going "ohhh"
