Moon Landings - true or fake?
Being old enough to remember the moon landings, I was amazed to see a poll on another message board which indicated that almost 30% of the members believed that the moon landings were faked by NASA and the US Government.
Citing whacko websites that spout pseudo scientific nonsense, these people actually believe that it was a big conspiracy and Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and 10 other American astronauts did not walk on the moon. Instead it was staged on some elaborate Hollywood set a la 'Capricorn One' (without OJ lol). Now, that site was the Stern Fan Network which probably has a demographic that would lean towards conspiracy theories. So here I am at e90post where I believe the membership to be a little more 'sensible'. I would be eager to hear your opinion. Bring real science with you if you think it was faked. True of False.

No telescope ever created, even the Hubble can resolve a 25ft object at 240,000 miles. The Hubble would have to be closer than 1300 miles from the moon to see the 6 Lunar Modules.

Well some of ur tax money goes to fund them. Wouldn't you like to know ur money is well spent? On actual research, and not a studio they set up to film the landing?

I dont' think there's any spacesuits at this moment that can protect the astronaut from the radiation emmited from the Sun...
another words, if armstrong was there...he should either die or have skin cancer right away.... |

Shuttle astronauts have done EVAs, most notably to repair the Hubble where they were out of the Shuttle for hours. Should they be dead? Was that fake too?

Gold was not used on the suits however it was used in the helmet visors to reflect sunlight.

Had they discovered it was a scam, they would have come down on the US government like a ton of bricks. We would still be recovering.

Some of the mission really was filmed in a studio backlot, but not because we didn't go to the moon. Camera technology back then was not up to the task of taking high quality pictures in near zero gravity and near vacuum conditions not to mention the solar, gamma and x-ray interference would have corrupted the magnetic media rather quickly. The audio transcripts were real as were the actual mission details. Some of the photographs however were falsified. Don't ask me how I know this because I've said too much already.

So you are stating that all the video footage and over 5000 photos were shot in a lot. Tell me. I would imagine that the number of people required to keep that a secret (remember they did it 6 times) would be huge. How come none have come forward. Estimates are that about 500,000 scientists, engineers and contractors worked or sub contracted for NASA during Apollo - over 4000 different firms built parts for Apollo or were involved in the program. Some of the finest brains in the world were drafted by NASA to work on the moonshot. Yet 40 years later, not one of them has come forward. Not one has gone to a major network or written a book that would no doubt make them gazillionaires. Can you explain why?
