The new BMW plug-in-hybrid-technology explained

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
More on BMW i: http://www.bimmerpost.com/bmwi/

The best of both Worlds: BMW presents the new plug-in-hybrid-technology, built into the BMW Concept Active Tourer. For the first time, BMW combined two different drive concepts in one car: A BMW TwinPower Turbo combustion engine [more info] and an electric engine. The concept vehicle combines comfort and functionality with dynamic performance and style.

Nice styling. I'd buy one at a reasonable price.

Only 60g CO2!!
(I wish I knew how that compared to my 335i)

I like the styling and tech, but its basically a Volt coming to the party a few years later.

I'd def lease it.

I'd consider one, but not sure about more power going to the front wheels.

Very aesthetic car in my opinion

Does anyone know if the dual power train source will function effectively like the x-drive for winter driving and low-traction scenarios? Scott26?

This looks great. Can't wait to see what BMW will bring to market in these new types of cars.
I just got back tonight from leasing a Ford C-Max hybrid for my GF.
Would have gotten this instead if it was available.
EV cars with CVT drive so smooth. its surprising how good it drives. seemless transfer from Electric to gas.

Perfect world,
full EV car for daily driving to work. Hybrid wagon ford the family.
And a 3-5yr old M3 toy in the garage for the weekends.

Sounds affordable lol!!!

What is so amazing about this? Yes, the fuel economy is outstanding, but BMW has the AH3, AH5 and AH7. This is just another hybrid!

Why does it say that BMW combined a combustion engine with an electric one for the first time???

Waiting for the right new e technology BMW to actually come out. Personally, I'd like an AH-M car.
