Lightbulb RR Evoque vs BMW X3 30d vs Merc ML 250 CDI

I'm searching for an SUV to replace my 3 year old E90 330i.
I have shortlisted the following options-
1. RR Evoque (2.2D) - Great to look at, brilliant interiors, average engine, off roading credentials, rarity
2. X3 30d - Blazing performance, average looks, average interiors, can be mistaken for a X1
3. ML 250 CDI - Huge!, average engine, above average looks, above average interiors

Don't worry about Land Rover resale in India, its the most out of the three!
Also, I don't want to look like I'm buying the smaller engined Merc than the 350 CDI for the snob value.

Help me!

I would personally go with the Evoque out of those three options.

If you need use of some sort of off-road ability, it has to be the Evoque. It's just a shame it has 4cyl engines.
If there's no real need for any sort of off-road capability, I'd go for the X3 (but I don't see how a X3 can be mistaken for a X1 though )

I haven't tried the other cars, but i rented a 2.2 Evoque a few weeks ago in England. What a doll of car it is. If it was a Jaguar or something like that, it would be acceptable but from a company like Land Rover is just unacceptable. I'm not much a more-POWA guys when it comes to city cars but the engine was gutless in lower RPM's. Visibility? A Camaro gives you more. The ride is rock hard (the car had 20-inch wheels though) And overall the whole package with that concept-like design gives you the feeling that this car is designed for single women in their late 30's who seek attention.

You're sure you tried the 190 BHP one? Thats the one I'm looking at. It does 0-100 km/h in under 9 seconds

Evoque is for teenage girls. No man should drive that car.

It is like a little toy vehicle, so small.

Which fits on our equally small roads just right

Many people say the same about the 3-Series. So, I don't see your point.

As others have said, if you need off road ability, go with the Evoque. If you don't then go with the X3. Really, if you don't need off road ability, I would say look at the F31. That being said you are in India, which isn't known for having a good road network, so maybe a SUV would be better.

Have you seen the Chris Harris video? It's a proper Land Rover dressed in a tuxedo.

They don't sell the F31 here and even the F30 petrol is sold only in 328i guise, which is not worth it for 10000$ more than what I bought mine for.

The road network is not a big issue as I've been using an E90 till now and I live in Delhi, which has the best roads in India.

I thought the A6 3.0 TFSI fit my demands but such executive cars are generally chauffeur driven here.

I drove the Si4 evoque today and was disappointed with the feel of the transmission and power delivery. I tried it in sport mode and drive as well as paddle shift and overall felt it was missing something major. It always felt like it was in the wrong gear and the shifts were overly harsh and clunky. I'd test drive all three and see what works for you. i'd go ML although i haven't tried the diesel

Thanks. I've decided to wait for the 9 speed Evoque before making a decision. Apparently that steps up the game.

I would personally go for the RR, it looks better both outside and inside than the other 2.
