3.5 V6 Twin turbo Lincoln!
Hey! I read an article a few days ago, about a spycar being spotted in michigan. The car is being identified as the 2009 Lincoln MKS. The article also stated, the new twin turbo technology introduced in the 'MKR' concept, can find its way in the 2009 model MKS top versions. I am excited about the engine, but not the exterior of the car. I don't feel it...looks pretty similiar to the new Accord/Acura TL.
The specs in a summary are: 1. 3.5 litr V6(Not inline 6)(displacement depends on the emission laws...could be 3.3 v6) 2. Direct fuel injection 3. TWIN TURBO(even with the emission laws getting tough...the turbo's will be there) 4.Can be anywhere between 330 or 380hp......400lb/ft torque 4. All wheel drive (AWD) 5. V formation for more power(Proven to be better then a INLINE form...but not smoother ) This engine will also find it's way in Mustang, probably when Mustang gets a total makeover. Anyway, from my point of view....this engine can be very successful. I know for a fact, that Ford isn't new in the 'Turbo tec', as it sells a car named Ford Falcon(4.0 inline 6 , single turbo) in Australia and Ford Focus(2.5 inline 4, single turbo) in Europe. Hmm...if this engine ends up in the next Mustang, along with AWD, maybe I will end up buying a car I am not impressed with(MUSTANG concept looks pretty cool). Hmm, being offtopic, sorry for posting my 4th thread in 2 weeks. I just wanted to share this news with my fellow bimmer fans! Bimmer's are going to get alot of competition in the near future. But I am sure , BMW will think of something. Maybe the 3.2 inline 6 engine used in the e46 m3, could find it's way in the next 3 series make over(probably 2010 or beyond) to stay ahead of competition....affcourse with twin turbo but not that high revving. Anyway exciting future to look ahead to here are the pics and the source (AUTOBLOG.COM) on the spyshot. http://www.autoblog.com/gallery/linc...-shots/376970/ Here's the article I read today! http://jalopnik.com/cars/spy-photos/...ude-296304.php Here's the beautiful MKR concept's article, suppose to be a 4 door concept. http://www.autoblog.com/photos/linco...oncept/120152/ All sources used are sourced by www.autoblog.com and co. |

There have been several articles stating that Ford would be going with turbocharged (or twin) engines to increase power without sacrificing gas mileage too badly. I think this is a much better alternative to displacement on demand.

All of the companies are going towards smaller engines with twin-turbos and DI... As BMW proved already (and Audi/VW), you can get V8 performance at 6 cylinder gas mileage.

Okay, here is your car, with its ugly-ass steering wheel, trim, and light switch on the turn signal stalk... and whatever you do, DO NOT PRESS THE RED BUTTON!!!

Unfortunately, way too much of this car was lost in translation from concept to production form.
Just look at the side view alone, from utterly gorgeous, to utterly fugly |

Although I do believe that the BMW is overrated (slightly), a few things that the US makers (and most foreign) will neve achieve:
1) functional, simple but nice looking interior. They always load it with that crap shiny (chrome looking) plastic and cheap, hard materials. Also, crap designed radio and AC controls... 2) after 28 months, my car feels and drives like new -- tight, same feeling, the engine is not giving up the power at all. I never experienced it befre in any car. 3) The look -- once you wash the car, it still looks like the day you picked it up from the dealership, and the design looks "modern" for years to come. For some reason, the US cars look so over designed at first (example: Chrysler 300, or so), but soon, they look worn out, and the gaps between the bumper and the rest of the car start showing, the squeeking becomes pronounced and so on... |
