Not sure if there is already a thread for this...if there is I apologize.

For those of you who own this handy technology, could you post what device you use and your review of it?

I just ordered myself a Valentine1, it's supposedly the best on the market right now.

It isn't. Don't believe the hype.
It falses like crazy in town. And maybe is a good choice if you constantly travel on interstate.

I have and currently use BEL Pro RX65. It has saved me from more in city tickets than I can count over the past few years. I'd say hundreds!
I am finally going to upgrade to what is THE greatest most advanced detector on Earth.... The PASSPORT HD.
Feel free to Google it.

You'll love it. Opinions are just opinions. I've had a V1 for a LONG time now and it too has saved me thousands in speeding fines.

I will agree that it false alarms often in the city, but it isn't a deal breaker.

It was between the ESCORT PASSPORT HD, ESCORT REDLINE and the V1.

I chose the V1 because of personal recommendations and the great reviews.

They all have their pros and cons. If your commute is thru center city there you will have a lot of falses. If you have a more rural commute V1 is your friend.

9500ix and V1 is the most common. Can't go wrong with either.

It's like personal preference between a mercedes or a BMW

Not really. It's certainly one of the most accessible detectors on the market right now. It has solid value, but it's nowhere near the best.

There are forums out there dedicated to testing radar detectors, and the general consensus is that the beltronics sti-r plus is the best detector out there. It's the cream of the crop, and at $1300 or $1400, you definitely get what you pay for.

Look up "veilguy" and radar detector and I'm sure you'll find some of his videos (along with the radar detector forums I mentioned).

All the sensitivity in the world won't do you any good when you can't tell how many signals there are or where they are coming from. I've been involved in the countermeasures industry for years and the V1 is still my pick. Coupled with a Laser Interceptor jammer and you're all set. The Escorts all lack pop sensitivity and even the STI-R lacks the bogey counter and the arrows. I can't live without the arrows, particularly. That's a feature that saves me REAL time when speeding by allowing me to immediately determine if an alert is a roadside drone, nearby car with radar cruise control, or an actual threat.

The escort may be better for a "city" commute, but if you seriously speed over long distances (to the point where you CAN'T afford to be caught) the V1 is a better choice.

Keep in mind though, I don't mean to bash escort stuff at all. They make absolutely fantastic detectors. I would own one if they incorporated arrows, to be honest. I'm just saying that for me, the V1 is the best fit for my driving profile - everybody's is different.

That's true, but (unofficially) it seems to alert you noticeably faster than the V1 on average.

Here's jut one of may videos from veilguy

Now, whether or not being alerted "a couple of seconds faster" with the StiR is worth the $1400 over whatever the V1 costs (I think around half that) is another question. And, as you said, the V1 does have the arrows which is a nice feature, although not essential in my book.

Sti r has bogey counter in expert mode. V1 costs $399. And a couple seconds Can make all the difference.

I have a Valentine 1 in the mail as we speak.

I was one of those who bought the Passport 8500 X50 Woot deal about a month ago. I was shipped a shitty unit, and eventually sent it back. As a result, I'll never do business with Woot or Passport again.

Ordered mine about a week ago. They said that it should ship at the end of July. He said early orders should start to ship next week according to the escort customer service rep.
