Wow that sound is intoxicating. I don't think I have ever heard gears so fast in a production GT3.
I think that car is going to be amazing with PDK. Ditto GOLFFR...need to win lotto |

^ Although the above CUP has a 991 chassis, it car has the venerable Mezger engine and 997 drive train, not the new 9A1 GT3 engine nor the dual clutch in the 991 GT3. It has a sequential gear box. It is not an indication of what is coming in Nov. Sounds great nonetheless.
This is what's coming to the USA in Nov: Last edited by devo; 08-03-2013 at 05:24 PM.. |

As great as it is, the s65 doesn't hold a candle to this engine in any way shape or form. It didnt hold a candle to the 997.1/.2 GT3 engine by any stretch in any way shape or form either. Period. I'll take a porsche Motorsport engine any day over one made by m. The Porsche engine is a masterpiece only equalled by maybe the 458 Italia engine...maybe.

Case in point, the m3 gts. It was meant to compete with the GT3 yet could barely do so with a 5 year old 997.1 when it came out. And do you think the s65 was a great value in te m3 gts when the gts was 150k?? I certainly do not. And your comparison of a sc m3 doesn't quite make it apples to apples. The m3 will still no matter how much power you have NEVER equate to the connected and organic feeling of a porsche let alone a GTx porsche. And while the m3 sounds phenomenal, it doesn't match the pure mechanical symphony that the GT3 or f car v8 produces. While the m3 may be one of the sweetest produced, the GT3 defines that statement and may be THE single sweetest engine at any given time. Only porsche can top themselves IMO. Furthermore, the s65 that bmw uses in alms is very different than the one we have in our street cars...says a lot to me... |
