So for iphone5 you can get one now if you have an older car or a brand new car. 2010-2012 folks need to wait until next year.

Wanted a snap in so i can use laptimer without the phone rattling all over the place!

Who wants to buy my old one for previous iphones??

silly question but if bmw apps is proprietary to Apple why on earth would a snap in adapter be used for samsung?

Nothing for the Galaxy S4?

Android is the most open platform on the market. Surely they could do BMW Apps as well. I'm sure Apple is paying them to be exclusive to the iPhone though.

I saw the BMW memo about this and I was more confused after I read it... Sigh.

Assuming I have a 2013 E70 X5 with BMW Apps, will music from the iPhone play when it's in the cradle, or not?

Or do I need to wait for the version to be released in 2014?

They could sell a ton of these at $50 or so but any more than that and it becomes silly unless you're made of money or are in love with the increased functionality or aesthetics. Especially when you consider the limited use you get out of it since BMW takes so long to come out with these. The iPhone 6 is likely coming out next summer/fall and won't fit these. In other words, if you rush out and get this installed right away, you can pay $250 for maybe 10 months use. Thanks but no thanks.

+1. Yeah, it really doesn't make using your phone any more convenient. If anything, it is less so. But hey, you can pull over and watch a video on your nav screen!

Is it combox compatible? If so, I don't see how it's useless. Control your tunes via iDrive, and use pandora and BMW Apps! I have to screw around with my phone far more with the stupid lightning cable now in the armrest

EDIT: I see it's only the charging and increased reception snap-in cradle. Sucks...

I think these cradles are so out of date tech. Seriously, I don't want to buy a new craddle every year or two when I update my phone. So not sure why I should be excited Bout this news as it is worded in the headline.

...and 11 months before Apple changes the form factor. For people that upgrade their phones often, BMW's release schedule is worthless for this.

I bought a used adaptor (was basically brand new though) for my iphone 4s, got the media with the fan and all. NEVER USED IT. I mean I did plug my phone into it a lot, so it would charge it and stuff, but half the time I didn't and could never tell the difference in call quality. Also I never used the apps and video (have to be parked...) so it was sort of pointless. Can still charge it and access music while plugged in through USB and thats FREE. Will be selling my old adapter since I got a new phone but no plans to get this new unit unless it had far more integration that it offers now, port the iphone screen to the BMW nav screen and offer full functions (now with the new touch pad on idrive) and I would pay $250 for that.
