Outdoor Bars
Anyone on here have an outdoor bar at their house? The house I bought a few years back had a building in the backyard that was the original sales office for our neighborhood back in the 1950's. From the outside, it looked pretty rough but I didn't want to just tear it down.
Earlier this year we started to expand the one end of the building so we could turn this into an outdoor bar with a covered area that would still be outside. If anyone else has done a similar project, I'm looking for some ideas to complete this. Any cabinetry and bar design ideas would be especially helpful. Here are a few progress pictures. I will post up more when I get home tonight. Since these pictures, we have added HardiePlank siding and a composite decking for the floor inside the bar. Plans for the inside include: - Installation of mold resistant drywall with required trim. - Connections for speakers and tv for outdoor parties - Paver patio extending beyond the open area including a fire pit - L shaped bar with custom counter - Recessed lighting with at least one overhead fan - Counter roll up shutters to protect the inside from the elements - Kegerator and outdoor fridge |

These cabinets are awesome for outdoor applications. http://www.werever.com
100% water proof, mold and mildew resistant as well. Quite expensive, but they are a forever outdoor cabinet.

The office used to sell the homes in that neighborhood when they were new.

Exactly. The community has a tennis club that also used to have a golf course. As Richmond grew, the golf course was shut down and houses were built where the fairways used to be. Not a huge significance but still cool for the neighborhood.

It has been a lot more of a project that I initially thought but luckily my Dad is in construction so it's been something we can work on together.
My fiance and i are getting married next month and our goal is to have it complete enough so we can use it while so many friends are in town. |

Today you have the model home that is usually used as the sales office for a new neighborhood, I guess in that neighborhood they had model shed as the sales office.
Op, you better have locks on everything, once the kids find out you have Alcohol in an outdoor bar your bar will be the favor place to raid on the weekend. Around where I live you can not leave beer in the garage refrig and leave you garage door open otherwise the kids come around and steal it all. Last edited by Maestro; 10-21-2013 at 05:19 PM.. |

A few more progress pictures I took on my lunch break. The composite decking floor was just finished. This seemed to be a reasonable route to take and was less than half the cost of pavers and was an easy install for my Dad and I. Very easy to work with.

The builder uses this rental house as a model home and to conduct sales operations. Once all the houses are sold in the new development, the builder vacates the model home and the owner moves in to his house. This owner is given a great deal plus they get make a few bucks. Now, in the 1950s, the builder would just use the shed. More practical! |
