That video made me nervous. I thought he was going to merge into a biker at least 5 times...

so this is how transporter is filmed, yes? This for some reason didn't freak me out as much, probably because those aren't bikes being almost hit, bikes crashing at 100+mph is certain death.

The R8 video is pretty cool, good fun!

The 2nd video with Porsche is cool too except crap quality.

In both cases it's all good fun.

In the end, as usual, the crazy Russians put everyone else to shame. That M5 drift is another level of crazy. Sick. That X6M in the Russian video is pretty badass too, sounds mean. 700HP!

Btw. I ride too and it's fun to surprise the feck out of bikers in the X6M once in a while - all in good spirits.

The issue with is bike stop faster than a car and following too close will end in body parts all over the road. I was expect a nice bumper tire kiss a few times.

The Russian purely in their own league, no one can touch them, I honestly believe most of them lack any natural response to fear, they have no self preservation response, so comparing what they do to anyone else is not the same.

Bikes are capable of stopping faster than most road cars, but a lot of sportbike riders aren't skilled enough to do so. There's even less sportbike noobs with the skills to out-brake something like an R8 which is no slouch in the brakes department. I'd assume a sportbike rider on a bike larger than 600cc that can't manage to out-accelerate an R8 also doesn't have the skills to out-brake the R8 either. I'm sure you know that you cannot just slam on the brakes on a non-abs equipped sportbike. Hard braking requires some skill that most riders develop on tracks.

Edit: I'm actually not so sure a sportbike can out-brake a R8.

Correct.

Braking is not a strong suit for bikes. In terms of outright stopping distance from speed, sportbikes are about the same as average family-cars.

The best production motorcycle brakes are found on the Ducati Diavel. The R8 V10 stops faster than the Diavel. That's with a pro rider, so any rider skill variation will only go down from there. The R8 V10 is a BEAST.

Reference please. I doubt this is correct. Bikes brakes are immensely powerful. When comparing to a Supercar (R8 V10) then the Supercar has better braking ... but average family car? I wouldn't go that far. Again, taking rider skill out of the equation for a moment.

When "average" rider skill is factored in, a lot of 1000cc Sportibkes can barely match the performance of a Vespa!

2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000 - Professional rider.

"Out at El Toro the GSX-R’s braking power was respectable, finishing in fifth place in the 60-0 mph braking analysis with a best stopping distance of 127ft, tying it with the KTM."

2012 Toyota Camry - Probably some fat, dorky automotive journalist. It's Edmunds, after all.

^^

Interesting but you don't have to be rude, it tickles my vagina the wrong way.

Anyway here's a PDF showing the Diavel (best brakes on any bike but not as good as R8 V10)
http://www.mcnews.com/mcn/model_eval/2011JuneDiavel.pdf
60-0 distance = 107.9'

Here is also another one showing BMW S1000RR and Ducati 1199 Panigale, both of which have low 119' stopping distance.
http://www.mcnews.com/mcn/features/2012SeptBMW_Duc.pdf

So not all bikes are created equal. While you had a good point of reference, so do I, and therefore I guess we can both piss off now.
