New Lap Record at Norschleife
http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/19/k...ife-lap-recor/
You can make a car that accelerates. You can make a car that brakes. You can make one that handles. One that corners. One with a high top speed. But to make one that does it all is a different story entirely. That's why automakers go to the N?rburgring. Its northern loop is twenty-two kilometers of twists, turns, dips, straights, chicanes...even a carousel. And it's got a new champion. The Pagani Zonda F recently lapped the track that claimed Lauda's ears in a scant 7:27:82, edging out the previous ruler, the Porsche Carrera GT (which it also rivals for carbon-fiber content in its construction). The Zonda's hot lap shaved a mere two milliseconds off the Carrera's time, but those are two milliseconds the German supercar evidently couldn't muster on its own home track. How embarrassing, ja? The specific model that hit the high time was a Clubsport version, which itself will be trumped by the even more extreme Zonda R before designer Horacio Pagani goes back to the drawing board for the Zonda's successor. ________ YAMAHA XT 660 ________ Native American Spirituality Advice ________ Bonecraft download ________ WEB SHOWS ________ Pattaya estate agents Last edited by Vegas_Sirk; 09-19-2011 at 11:43 AM.. |

Doesn't Porsche still hold the fastest lap record at the 'Ring though? I could have sworn that I recently read that the record is still held by Porsche, and it wasn't the GT that produced the fastest time.

edit: It looks like Porsche (956) and BMW (F1 Sauber car) hold the two fastest times: 6:11 and 6:12 respectively! |

It's not stretching it at all. The Zonda fits firmly within the bounds of the production car category. Think of it as a cheaper and lower volume Veyron. (I'm assuming it's lower volume.)

Do you need any training beforehand? What to you need to get on? How many laps does it take before you need to replace brakes? Does traffic make it hectic? Are there ever times when theres very little traffic? |

its a public road. You dont need training to ride on a public road.

The un-official name of the track is "The Green Hell" if that gives you any idea of what it's like to drive. Just try it out in any racing game and you'll understand. It's probably the most technical track in the world and so dangerous that they don't let real race cars on it.

2) That was the first F1 car on the ring in something like decades and it was for a promo event, he allegedly wasn't trying and was on shitty tires. That being said the rumor was he ran a 6 something, I forget the exact number there's a thread on the dates and times and how long it's been somewhere around here.

As to the Zonda, I don't see how less than 30 cars per year can equal a production car. Plus Zonda isn't really an all out racing car company. IMO, true race car builders engineer their own engines. They don't buy Mercedes engines and tune them. |
