Sleep Paralysis
Sleep Paralysis: "is a phenomenon in which people, either when falling asleep or wakening, temporarily experience an inability to move. More formally, it is a transition state between wakefulness and rest characterized by complete muscle atonia (muscle weakness). It can occur at sleep onset or upon awakening, and it is often associated with terrifying visions (e.g. an intruder in the room), to which one is unable to react due to paralysis..."
I just experienced this again last night for the 4th time in my life. This creeps me the fuck out every time. I used to think it was demons messing with me, but apparently it's a very common experience. I know I'm not the only one that has gone through this right?! |

This happened to me once when I was really tired and just passed out on my bed. I had accidentally fallen asleep in a weird position on my arm. I kept trying to wake up to move it but I couldn't. I could feel my body and my eyes were open.
It was so creepy

Yeah I mean to be paralyzed when asleep is not only common - it happens 100% of the time to 100% of people every single night. Being conscious of this paralyzed state is what's rare.
It's happened to me I think once before and it is quite scary. |

Has happened to me once or twice when I was younger. What would happen all the time is when you fall asleep at some odd time and sleep for hours. Then wake up the next day or in the middle of the night and are like WHAT YEAR IS IT!!!???? Or when you just wake up on the side of the street behind some bushes.

It happens to me pretty frequently, as in several times per month. The reason this happens is so that if we're asleep near a cliff/in a tree or something where movements could endanger our life such as alerting a predator, a neurochemical (I forgot the name) is released to ensure we do not move. It was pretty useful a hundred thousand years ago, but not so much now I guess. Lol

temporarily, not the entire time. For example, i kept trying to open my eyes so I could look at how to fix that my body was on top of haha. I also kept on trying to open up my eyes to wake up because no matter what I did I could not wake up!

It is a witch coming up from the floor and pulling you down; that's why you are paralyzed.

I get this all the time...sometimes wont be for months, sometimes 3 or 4 times a week, I've even had it twice in one night a couple weeks ago.
I hallucinate and feel there is a "presence" that comes into my room and is messing around with me and i'm completely paralyzed and helpless. I keep reminding myself that its not real and trying to 'wake up'. I cant sleep on my side otherwise i'm guaranteed I will get sleep paralyzes. Even though I get it so often it still freaks me out to the point where sometimes I would be too scared to go back to sleep that night. |

I experienced this maybe about 10 times in my life. Mostly happened when I was tired as hell and just passed out. Freaks the hell out of me. I can hear all the noises around me, but it just seems every noise is amplified, and I do feel a weird presence. I just keep my eyes shut because I hate seeing freaky things. I heard from doctors that hallucination is completely normal during sleep paralysis. I try to get out of it as soon as possible. Instead of trying to move larger parts of your body, I find wiggling your fingers and toes work the best and I can usually get out of it within a couple of minutes. But then if I fall back asleep right away, I again go into sleep paralysis, so I try to stay up about 5 minutes before going back to sleep.

I now suffer from this terrifying condition at least once a week.
Used to happen once a year (if that) . . .

I also kept hearing weird noises on the roof. I spoke with a neighbor and he told me we had some bird up on the roof that always runs around in the middle of the night. lol Anyway it is creepy when you cannot move and your eyes are open and you see that black shadow near the door. However, the day I set up weapons that could kill any LIVING creature on this planet they went away.. Now I just keep my Hk 357 Sig on my dresser… |
