Eh, no.
At work, I have my phone with me all the time. Calls, emails, texts, etc. are there. So, no real need for this at work. When I'm relaxing, I also have my phone with me all the time, but unless it's an emergency, I don't give a shit if someone texts me. Most of the important stuff coming to me when I'm not at work is via email or calls, so I don't need this. And this looks...ugly? |

I've had this for about a week now. so far so good. only thing is though, I have iOS and it's lacking applications for apple users.. for android, it's a different story. you can download many watchfaces.. you get sick of one face, you simply log on to pebble application and download watchface.... of course you get notifications for everything that your phone is receiving as far as 3rd apps too..

Smart-watches have a way to go. The pebble concept is cool but limited functionality, cheaply made, and ugly. I think the Google Glass format has a better future for an alternative user interface.

I backed the kickstarter. I really enjoy the basic functions. I wish it had more IOS apps. It's not the prettiest device, but people are generally impressed with the gadget factor.

Gen 1 smart watch
If you get a text, it shows it on t he display If you get a call, likewise You're working out in the gym, phone is in your pocket You see the current song playing , and you can forward, rewind, and pause the song On the latest update, you get all notifications on the screen Facebook, twitter etc. and you can turn them all on and off Best thing about is is it vibrates when you get a call I s usually don't hear my phone when I'm at work cuz I have the ringer low But I feel my hand vibrate And it's waterproof, so I don't have to take it off when I shower Battery lasts 5 days All that for $150 Not bad

So I did a lot of research on the android forums.
This is better than gear and pebble because it can handle any notifications you throw at it. Android compatible only. You can flash custom rom onto it and root it. It runs on Android 4.3 Gear still has a better build quality but cant really complain for the price.. |

I agree with you that if you want this kind of thing, Pebble is currently the way to go, though I, personally, don't see the point of it. I get where some people might get a lot of use out of this though. Granted, I have my phone on my desk next to my keyboard when I'm not in meetings, so it's very easy for me to see what is going on with it. Should I be on a meeting, I don't need my phone for anything. |
