Do You Pay For Loan Service Cars???
I am raging.
Some dealers now charge per day for loan cars whilst you are PAYING them to carry out work on your car. In the old days this was never the case. Recently it was £15 for insurance waiver. Now it is £15 a DAY What town are you in and what are you charged? I am in Wiltshire. |

Here in the US, we get free BMW (or Mini if you ask) loaners while your car is under factory warranty, but the minute that's over, you pay for a loaner. If I recall, you don't get factory covered maintenance in the UK, correct? It's four years, 50k miles here.

Isn't "paying" for a "loaner" an oxymoron?
My 2011 135i is under warranty and has been at the dealer two times to fix a rattle (total of four days now). I've had a 2014 X3 and now a 2014 528i as loaners - no charge other than I have to pay for gas that I use.

Up until Jan first I never paid. This year Calgary BMW wants $24.95 for the car. I'm sure my salesman will toss me keys out of the cabinet if I absolutely need a loaner

I don't have a warranty on my ride, but anytime they're doing recommended services I'm offered a loaner and if they don't have one at the dealer they rent one for me. All I pay for is the fuel I use and that usually ain't much. I've never gone over $10 anyways. Good times.

Speak for yourself. My cars were never under warranty and I received free loaners.

Some dealers have started to charge because we have issues having people return cars in a timely fashion once the work on their vehicle is finished..charge people money and that typically changes.

If there are forum members who are paying for loaners, I recommend being nicer to the people in the service department and the alternative transportation department. I've found there is a LOT of leeway in whether or not you get charged, how long after your car is done you can keep the loaner (i.e. overnight is usually not a problem) and even what loaner you get (i.e. base 320 vs. loaded up 535 m sport...)

They are the only dealers I have ever had the misfortune to deal with who charge for courtesy cars when booking in for service. For this and many other reasons I refuse to deal with them anymore, a true example of the poorest customer service. Do you not travel anywhere else you could use someone else? |

they should not be charging. I would contact BMW USA or Canada if you dealer is charging you....and file a complaint.
