Is it safe to set off passenger seat sensor with NCS Expert?

I had "passenger airbag off" on the roof and "passenger restraint system malfunction" on the panel. Diagnosed by dealer and they said it's $1300 to replace the sensor, which I think is too expensive. Also, my car is not in the recall list and BMW north america would do nothing about this. After a few days research on different forums, I finally worked out a way to deactivate the 'passenger mat sensor' with NCS expert. Actually, I have set the OC3_1 from aktive to nicht_aktiv, and then cleared errors with INPA. Now the alarm lights are all off.

Now, my question is: will the passenger airbag deploy in an accident if the mat sensor is set off like this?
