Civil Air Patrol
There is a "Civil Air Patrol" office on our campus. Is anybody here a member? What actually goes on in there? I'm sure they're not patrolling the skies. Or are they? Is this the lamest thread ever?

Saw the local CAP doing takeoffs and landings the other day. They'll do searches for downed planes and so on if needed. When JFK Jr's plane went down off the Cape years ago the CAP was flying all over looking for it. Used have a prof/advisor who was a CAP pilot.

i was in the air patrol when i was younger - from intermediate to 18, you can join and learn basic training skills, survival tactics, etc. a huge part of it (and why i joined) is that it gives kids an early start on learning to fly. You start with gliders and work your way up to single engine planes.
