My best friend is coming over from Halifax for Thanksgiving and she'll give me a hand cleaning all my garden beds.

What are you doing this weekend?
Battening down the hatches and turning on the fireplace. It's going to rain like a cow pissing on a flat rock tonight!

I did a quick re-finish on the bedframe wife bought from CL. Thought I was done, but in the process of assembling the bed in the room, and organizing furniture, I now have an "antique" drawer thingy that needs refinishing. The top surface (veneer) is raising, some of the veneer on the doors was coming apart (glued back yesterday) and none of the drawers or doors have functional knobs. At least it's currently stained very dark. I can work with very dark, hiding blemishes.

This weekend was house clean up, cleaned the front eavestroughs, cut the lawn, took down the trampoline, blew the leaves, swept, etc....AND put the hardtop back on the Jeep.
What a PITA. So putting the hardtop back on (4 door model), the rear hardtop is a little heavier (not sure exactly how heavy, but the owners manual calls for 4 responsible adults at each corner of the hardtop otherwise, dire warning of imminent danger, death and destruction will occur), and it was just my wife and I. Now my wife is a trooper for sure and did her best, but it was very clear she was not going to be able to lift her side up that high. So I went along the street looking for a neighbour to help, nada...they were all either at hockey, at a farm, in the Soo, etc...nobody around right then. So I get her to get in the trunk section to help guide the top up over the roof bars and I crawl (and I do mean crawl) into the hardtop that is currently resting on the pavement. I'd guess there is maybe 2 feet of clearance between the roof and the pavement, so I'm crouched there at the back and go for the hero lift. And I'm struggling to get my legs under me so I can get up, but eventually do, but of course it was so tight there that I was lifting with my neck and my spine in a weird position...got the hardtop on, but gotta say, now my neck and back are all kinds of screwed up. Basically feel like the wind gets knocked out of me if I tilt my neck back or move weird. Not going to get checked out though, this is muscle related I'm sure, I think I've done this before and it goes away in a few days. But definitely feel it in my lungs. |

I know eh? But the promised plagues and pestilence for not using 4 adults never materialized. Guess you can't always trust the owner's manual instructions.
Here's a little confession though. I have two bolts left over from the hard top installation and have no idea where they go. I have not told my wife. I do not plan on telling her. It will not end well for me if I tell her. So there is no incentive to say anything. I currently buried them in her glove box in the Jeep, but now I'm thinking that was a poor place for them. Maybe I'll stick them in the baggie for the bolts for the soft top when she is in the shower or something and can't see what I'm up to. |
