First I heard on this but it says they are using a new 3.0 turbocharged motor.

Quote:
DETROIT (AP) -- The North American International Auto Show begins this week in Detroit with media and industry previews. It opens to the public Jan. 17.

Here are some of the new cars and experimental concept vehicles unveiled at the show:

— INFINITI Q60 CONCEPT: Infiniti is previewing the design of its upcoming Q60 coupe with a concept car unveiled Sunday evening. It's got sharper, more precise styling than the current Q60, along with a more aggressive grille and narrowed headlights. Under the hood will be Infiniti's new turbocharged 3.0-liter V6. This is no design study; Infinit says the Q60 that will go on sale next year will be strongly influenced by the Q60 concept. Nissan's luxury brand could use the boost. U.S. Infiniti sales have fallen over the last two years as the brand announced plans to revamp and rename its models and struggled with low quality rankings.

As expected, the powertrain is a new twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 that was first previewed in the Q80 Inspiration concept. Output hasn’t been mentioned, but we know the powertrain delivers as much as 550 horsepower and up to 553 pound-feet of torque when paired with a hybrid system. Infiniti says the production Q60 will be available with a seven-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, as well as rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations. The automaker’s troubled Infniti Direct Adaptive Steering by-wire system, which is said to offer better feedback than a conventional hydraulic setup, will also feature.

Agreed on G35 still being the top for Infiniti. New one looks too big and too chunky. I'd like to see some minimalism.

Good to see they've finally are moving away from their ancient VQ motor and into a 3.0 TT mill.

I loved the motor when I had it and it's high revving nature but the N55 (or any BMW straight 6) is just so much more refined. The VQ motors had a habit of causing a lot of noise and vibration at WOT.

Same, I had a g37 and loved it. But the power and fuel economy were dated. The personality of the motor was fantastic and so was the sound but it was time to become competitive performance wise.

I'll be interested to see the final version, looks good to me and a TT 3.0 DI engine sounds good.

Even though I have a G37S myself I am not too impressed so far with the new Q60 besides the 3.0 TT V6. I started to get a little let down since the Q50 made it's debut. Great cars but I think I will be joining the M3 family very soon.

Here is my 2013 Supercharged G37.

I will be a Pre-Order on this car. It won't be coming out for awhile but I will be one of the first to own one . To be honest I had a G37S before my 335i. I loved my G37S, probably more than a lot of people love their cars. When it was wrecked I was devastated. You can call me a girl, but I cried when I was told it was totaled. I felt like I lost a friend. I went BMW for the power and that German engineering. But... Since owning it its never felt right. This car isn't me. But with the new Q60 that spark in my soul is back and I am excited and happy for the chance to own one. I may get flamed for being an Infiniti lover but jesus, I can't help it.

My G37. May she Rest in Peace.

Diego right? I have loved your G37 since I first saw it . But M3? Why when the M4 is out and making awesome numbers? Also I really like the look of the Q60. Some things need to be softened or removed but it is just a Concept right now and will change by the time it comes out (I think I read around 1.5-2years)

As a former G37S owner myself. I do miss the exhaust note and the rawness. But the BMW is just so much more refined. I'm very interested in the performance and power numbers and the tuning available in the new Q60. May be an option once my 335i lease expires. I like cars that are easily tunable to 400-500 bhp.

What in the world was this guy on? "Inspired by the wind and its journey through the car." Where can it go through the car?

I think it's safe to say that designers are entering a dark era, almost like the box econo cars of late '60s and early 70s.

Interested to see if they put in a 6MT just like the previous G's.

As a current VQ35 owner, it's bittersweet to see them step away from the VQ - it was a flagship block that was incredibly understated. I have bolt ons that allow my 4 door to hang with V8s all day. And I'm pushing 200k here in a couple months!

If this thing comes in a 6MT, under 3800lbs with greater than 360hp all for under 50k, I may start considering it. Nissan / Infinitis are far less of a headache to modify and the price and ease to get them into serious numbers is attractive, to say the least.

That fcking M2 unicorn feel though - I can't get over it.

The end of 2015 should be fun.

I'm excited. It's hard to step away from the VQ but at the same time I think the VQ was at its limits of power so it's time to start looking into other avenues. I hope they retain the exhaust note (or refine it further). Either way I will be ordering one

I love it. I'd buy one the second I saw a real aftermarket commitment for the V6 TT. It'd make the perfect daily driver for me.

The Q60 is still in concept stage, I'm sure they will tone it down a bit with the design for the masses.
The 3.0TT will be Nissan engine, looking at the past Skyline history, this one for sure will be more fun.
VQ37 engine came detuned little from the factory. You would need a proper tune to get it going. I think I had more fun with it than any 3 series.

Fairly certain they'll be using the 3.0L TT (or a variation thereof) that's currently in the C400's.
