I think it depends a bit on age. I'd expect the younger people who are just starting careers are expecting large income growth over the next few years (your typical new lawyer/dr/finance types). So the people in their mid to late 20's who are looking at M3s now, will be moving into the period where their earnings should grow the most, and considering that it takes a decent income to get into an M3, a few years of decent growth puts a number of cars in reach.

once you get a bit more established in your career, the comp tends to level out a bit. Plus as you get older you acquire things like mortgages, wives and kids, that divert money away from cars.

Well it looks like everybody else in here is dreaming so I'll just trow out an Ariel Atom 2 (300 hp, 0-60 in <3 seconds)... I think I just creamed myself.

And maybe, just maybe if things go right, I might keep my E90 as it is my first bimmer and could work as a spare car and I could tune it or I don't know. I have feelings for that car! LOL

I'm a full time student and i don't work, my mother doesn't work. My father basically does all the work, we used to have a resturant here in Montreal (sold), internet company in Kuwait (where im originally from), and clothing company (basically its for private schools where they have special type of uniforms ).
my father bought me the e92 328i just to start with, but when i get to university i'll work at the same time, and buy the M6 on my own if i can't buy it my father can help . In kuwait is basically ur parents pay for u until u finish university and get married, they pay for ur cars, ur house, and ur marriage , maybe not all parents do this (small portion that don't), but atleast i know my parents do .
