Just awsome machinery ALL. Favorites E38 and E39 most of all. That V8 and manual!! Who else had a manual 6 speed, V8 and 396hp early 2000's in Germany.

I love the e28. Even as a former e30 owner (and still a huge fan), I like the e28 M5 more than the e30 M3.

There are some great years, but I am not a fan of all, especially the tourings.

Tech and power advancements can't be ignored, so, I'm a fan of all iterations of the M5. I just think the S85 was a very special chapter in M's motor development and bringing something like that to market was a great thing for enthusiasts.

I do like the F10 and the F90, but the E39 is still the best... that's the design that sold me on BMWs when I was younger, every time I see that scene in Mr. and Mrs. Smith with the 3 M5s, it makes me want to find one and buy it.

I agree the E39 is great. The F90 is pretty special as well. I am not as big of fan on the F10 M5.

Favorite at the top. I didn't like the G30 535 I drove because it was such a porker. Totally different beast with the M5 though. It will be interesting to see if it captures the essence of prior M5s.

Once you get a chance to drive the F90, I bet it will move up on list.

E39 M5, owned 3 of them until last month when I decided to go the 1M route. Great cars, although the new one looks real nice as well.
