Hi All,

Has anyone any real data on the specification of the B&W audio system fitted as standard to the new G90?

Back in June, some folk here were saying the system was inferior to the B&W ‘Diamond Surround’ system which was optional on the F90.

Is there better clarity now as to the quality & power of the system?

Is it the equivalent of the Diamond Surround?

Any info appreciated.

Scroll down towards the bottom as you will see the breakdown of the systems in the car. Notice all the Diamond systems and how they are equipped. The 5 series currently is not Diamond and it's inferior to the last gen on paper.


Sound quality is subjective but....

I've had a vehicle with a non-diamond B+W and two with a diamond B+W (and a BMW with a HK) and the non-diamond is noticeably better than the HK and good enough that I'm not really bothered by the non-diamond in the M5... and I'm pretty picky about my sound systems.

One would wonder why they don’t give us an upgrade option.

I’m in a similar boat. If it sounds good it’ll do me but it’s frustrating that the option to upgrade isn’t there.
I have an Arcam AVR 31 driving B&W 702 S2s at home, I like the sound B&W make. I’d definitely have upgraded to Diamond had it been available.
I guess I’ll find out in Jan!

If you read the press release above there maybe already a Diamond B&W system for the 5 already done, just not on sale perhaps anywhere but the Chinese market.....

But I've never been able confirm it's on sale
