Kinda aged nicely so far...

When asked about the bizarre pit lane start following the Qatar Sprint, Perez suggested that he had intended to find space on track, to collect setup data:
"The main objective of today was to be as further back as possible to have as much clean air as possible – that was the objective" and "I think we managed to understand the car with the changes we’ve done, I think there is some room to improve. What we have to do going forward, we have to try and bring a little bit more balance to the car."

But Horner said something different: "I don’t know, to be honest. I need to have a chat with him about it. It looked like he just misjudged it, but when the light goes out, you’re supposed to go.".

So maybe in the end Perez actively contributed to the performance improvement (qualies and race) ?
And people still think Checo isn't basically just a test-driver, trying out different things so Max can have the best car.

Sad to see him spin around under that safety car. He was on for his best race in a long time.

Could explain how max went from terrible in sprint to supreme in grand prix?

Like Lewis, he's one of the few drivers in modern history to win titles with two teams while being teammates with a past or future WDC. The only other person I can name off the top of my head was Prost. Anyone else?

Winning multiple WDCs on only one team with slow teammates is still cool, though.
We have all seen how much of a muffed up team Ferrari was before and now after SCH. Seems like an impossible task given the effort to keep Ferrari winning THAT long. Not HAM, not VER, not LEC, no one was or is able to turn Ferrari into a winning team like JT/SCH. Probably the best situation next to what RB had up until this year with Newey leaving this year.

The sprint race was basically FP2 for Checo, all pulling data for the race. They knew he wasn't going to get up to 8th for points, so why even try? Just sit at the back of the pack and try different setups to get more data. Pretty clear with the front wing swap for no reason. Probably why Checo finished in Q3 and was on track to get some significant points as well.

FIA clarifies decisions taken during the 2024 Qatar GP:
- Lando Norris' "10 second stop-go" penalty was in accordance with the guidelines circulated to the teams on 19th Feb 2024.
A "double yellow infringement" is considered as a serious compromise of safety
- RC doesn't use SC to remove on-track debris. The VSC wasn't a solution because the field was spread out; not giving a marshal enough time for pick up

Good on Max for whining on the radio like a cuck for them to check if Lando lifted.

Sure, they have an excuse, but it's not a good one.

But not lifting during double yellow during a race is a decision to gain a sportive advantage on the cost of safety.
Of course Lando can only say 'I didn't see it', saying that he disregards safety would be verbal suicide.
But if true that means he both missed the yellow flags, and the yellow light.
Max only got the flags and did see those.
So either Lando is blind (in the scope of F1 drivers that is) or he tells a different story.
And if another driver does something illegal to gain a sportive advantage on you, it's your good right to complain about that.

If you compare that to the RUS/VER incident: driver go in and out the delta all the time to give themselves and other drivers enough room to get a clear lap in qualifying. RUS wasn't on a fast lap, so there was no reason whatsoever to drive that fast on to the slow driving VER. There is no sportive advantage to be gained, it was in the middle of the track, not in the last turn to make speed to start a fast lap of something like that. RUS just as easily could've gone around Max or wait half a second and pass him on the following straight section.

It's not an excuse it's a an explanation. Lando knows you have to lift during double waived yellows and didn't. Everyone else got it right while Lando didn't and gained an unfair advantage. The rule was applied correctly.

Not arguing about Lando's penalty, hence the bold text.

They should have put a safety car out to clear the mirror. Everything they have to say about why they didn't is a poor excuse. They put a lot of drivers/cars at risk unnecessarily.

Completely agree!!! They left that thing out there way too long. Even a virtual safety car bringing the cars through pit lane would have worked. That's why, IMHO, there needs to be some discretion given to the Race Director. There are too many variables in racing to go full on letter of the law.

We've seen Lando's ceiling and he's not WDC material. It's not realistic to hope for the absolute fastest car on the grid, and even with that Lando could barely manage more than one win.

He doesn't have it.

Lando? He's learnt an awful lot by being thrown in at the deep end was the Larens' choice to challenge for the DC and will make fewer mistakes next season.
