Maybe you haven’t been in one recently, but the G8x cars are freaking huge. I had plenty of room for road trips with my wife, two kids in car seats, and our 20lb dog in my F80 even…

Also, the G99 trunk space is only 1.2 cu ft larger than the G90 fwiw. It doesn’t really offer much more load space vs the M3 touring or even it’s sedan counterpart.

I think the 500L on the G99 is with the luggage cover installed and is only the space below the luggage cover.

its the same with the seats up in the M3 Touring and the G99. Whether it’s with the load/tonneau cover pulled closed is irrelevant. The point is there’s little reason to get the G99 for utility. It’s for exclusivity (at least here in the States), which I’m totally okay with.

What a load a rubbish

The G8x M3 is the size of an E39 M5, and somehow Americans fit in the back of that.

And as others have noted, the boot on the G99 is the same size as the G81 so hardly a win for practicality there either.

Agree with everyone else. M3 touring is the sweet spot for many of us, BMW just missed the opportunity here in the US. M5 is for a different customer base.

From BMW USA’s website on the M5 Touring page. This is under the FAQ’s for “How much trunk space is available in the BMW M5 Touring?”

“The M5 Touring features a cargo capacity of 27.2 cu ft., ensuring impressive spaciousness and comfort on every journey.”

Again, the 500 L (17.7 cubic feet) number is the capacity that is covered by the cargo cover, not the total rear capacity.

This is the decision I’m in the midst of right now.

Do I keep my 2023 RS6, or go for the new M5?

The RS6 undoubtedly looks and sounds better, plus it has no silly electric plug.

But I’m a BMW guy at heart, and the M5 seats and steering wheel are sooooo much better.

Plus the tech on the Audi is garbage and full of bugs, like on most Audis.

First world problems.

Buy what you want, it's your hard earned money.

You could always wait until the new RS is out. It will be a plug-in v8 also. However. You will be able to judge which of the new gen you like best with the lastest tech. Plus, your RS6 likely will sell for more.

I'm in same mindset as you. I'm having my 2022 RS6 detailed right now so I can list it for sale.

In the past, people transported their entire families in E30s, E36s, and E46s without any problems. Now we just want more space, but then complain that manufacturers are making cars larger. Haha.

Add me to this group! 2022 RS6 optioned nearly identical to yours except I opted for ceramic brakes. Im deciding if I want to sell it myself or just trade it in. I’m probably leasing the M5, so no sales tax savings from trading it.

I have another car I can drive until the M5 gets here in case I sell it earlier.

Mine has 10 year/120k mile Audi platinum warranty that is transferable to next owner as long as I don't involved a dealerships or intermediary. I'll be selling it myself.

I am really on the fence about getting an upgrade from my 2 year old F90 CP to a brand new RS6 or new M5 (no touring here)

I drove the RS6 Performance and really liked it, but the M5 (F90) is more dynamic and some how BMW is more intuitive and nice (hate the lack of buttons and that touch screen with haptic feedback)

I really love the RS6, but its a tough one. I guess if you can buy the M5 to have a crack and try it out, it maybe worth it

The rs6 c8 is on its way out. I had a 22 rs6 and while I liked it, I didn’t love it. I will say I absolutely loved the way it looked and its visual presence. There’s no questioning it was an rs. I also have personally seen less than 5 of them on the roads (suburb of NYC). Exhaust note was almost non existent without at minimum a res delete. The amount of owners who did after market exhaust are plentiful.
The interior is dated, the exterior is timeless.
I hated the Audi MMI and the CarPlay was finicky at times. Don’t get me started on pre sense.
Finally, rs cars lease terribly so it was an easy choice. I’m grateful to have gotten the rs6 “unicorn” but I don’t think I’ll be going back to the rs5 or rs7 Avant or whatever they are calling the next model.
With all that said, on the Audizine forums, it seems like dealers are discounting them so if you have the itch, may not be a bad time to scratch it. It’ll still be a bit of a spread depending on how you spec each car but it’ll close the gap.
