Nice! I had some heaven hill bottled in bond (it's the only heaven Hill i have found here locally) along with my lux row 12 year the other night. I visited heaven Hill last month and had my favorite bourbon from our whole bourbon trail trip. It was their 18 year but it was only for tasting, not for sale.

Some of the bottles from a bottle share on Saturday.
The Four Roses 2021 and Old Stubborn Batch #2 were my favorites of the night. |

Tonight after dinner with old friends we had a dram or two from a prized bottle - the "Rites of Passage" Williamson (teaspooned Laphroaig) 17 yr old from Epicurean Selections (disclaimer - wife of the H&W team behind the brand is a friend).
Not as peaty and with a touch more saline/iodine than Laphroaig 10, with some extra sweetness as well. At 57% cask strength, it stood up to a fair dose of water. Highly recommended if you come across it - only one barrel selected for this bottling so not much to go around (distilled 2005, bottled 2022). Sláinte! |

Had a great night tonight tasting some excellent bottles. We have a place in the finger lakes called "the mansion". It's awesome. The GM is does an amazing job curating his bottle collection and sells them at very, very fair pour prices. Tonight I got to try Blanton's straight from the barrel. This bottle was at 128 proof and interesting in that it was the reverse of most bourbons... It burned / spiced quickly at the front then smoothed out with great long finish. We then went to Weller single barrel. Nice and smooth, but less interesting then the Blanton's. From there we went over to my current favs of Michters. Did the 10yr Rye, 10 yr Bourbon and Toasted barrel bourbon back to back. The rye really surprised me and won the night. All those pours came in at under $100. Love that place

Co-worker and his brother didn't like paying for Michter toasting, so they made their own hooch in their own toasted barrel. Then they gave me a refilled bottle at a retirement party Saturday night. Will drink more later this week!

The wheated will probably be cracked this weekend. I'll let you know. I've got high hopes since I'm already a Penelope fan and also really like Wheaters. |
